30.2 - Ava Catherine’s Task-Modern and Contemporary Art

This is a two book task.
No book with the main page genre Children or Kids may be used.

Being in the process of remodeling two houses, I have been thinking about art and architecture almost daily for the past few months. I have always been drawn to the Art Deco movement, which led to my appreciation of modern and contemporary art.

The Art Nouveau period ran from 1890-1914, and the Art Deco period was from 1910-1939. These periods are part of the modern art movement, which ran until the end of the 1960s. Contemporary art, growing out of modern art, began in 1970.

Book 1: Read a book FIRST published between 1890 and 1939 whose author’s first and last name initials can be found in ONE of these words/phrases: "ART DECO" or "ART NOUVEAU" or "BAUHAUS".

Book 2: Read a book FIRST published between 1970 and the present whose author’s first and last name initials can be found in ONE of these phrases: "CONTEMPORARY ART" or "POST MODERN ART".

Middle name initials may be ignored. Letters may only be used as often as they appear. Spaces determine names. One qualifying author in a work by multiple contributors works.

Art Deco is one option. Art Nouveau is a separate option for the author's initials. You may combine the letters in the option presented; however, you may not combine the letters of option one and option two. For example, you may not combine the letters of Art Deco and Art Nouveau to determine the author's initials. Therefore, an author with the initials DV would not work. (d from Deco and v from Nouveau)

It's a good question, and I appreciate your asking for clarification.

Would this one work for book 2? There are two Authors but their combined initial CAE are in contemporary The Trouble with Mirrors. I chose it because of its art connection, but I have a backup I know will work so no problem if you don't want to allow it

It works because Charlotte Elkins's initials are in CONTEMPORARY ART. You only need one author to qualify. (Actually, you could use Aaron Elkins instead since his initials are also in the phrase. You decide which author you want to use.)

For Book 2, would Saturn Run by John Sandford and Ctein work? Ctein's initials are in CONTEMPORARY ART, but John Sandford's aren't, and I wasn't sure if both authors' initials needed to be included or not.

Sorry, but you are looking for a book that has the initials of the author in CONTEMPORARY ART or POST MODERN ART. The title of the book does not count. There is no "J" in these phrases, so John Sandford will not work.
When selecting your book, you do have to keep in mind that the book was first published between 1970 and the present, too.

I see that you are an Agatha Christie reader, so you might want to look at someone like Michael Connelly. His initials fit the parameters, and he has books that qualify for the publication dates.

But I'm kind of confused as to why this book does not work. You said in a previous comment (message 11) that "you only need one author to qualify," and you also said in the original post that "one qualifying author in a work by multiple contributors works," however you said that my book does not work since there is no "J" for John Sandford. Ctein's initials (C) are present in CONTEMPORARY ART, and he is one of the authors of the book. My book was published between 1970 and the present, and Ctein's initials are present in CONTEMPORARY ART, so I'm confused as to why you said that this book will not work.

I apologize. I did not see that your book was written by two authors. My only excuse is that I cannot see without my contacts or glasses and must have read your entry while half blind. Thank you so much for following up on this.
