I was recently a guest on Fictoplasm with Ralph Lovegrove and Becky Annison - an excellent podcast which takes a look at great works of fiction, and examines them from the point of view of game design. For example: How would you build a game out of Jeff VanderMeer's mind-blowing novel Annihilation (the first book in the Southern Reach Trilogy)?

That's the topic under discussion. Have a listen. And read the book!

They just started their second year. Check out their backlog; some really good ideas in there.

AJ I can relate to some of the points raised so far as I listen good discussion. I'll probably re-listen to this. Player dynamics always makes it interesting. I like the idea of journals reminds me of the section on character sheets I ignored heh...

My group of regular DM's would take people aside to share insider info or pass notes. That's when the game really started taking on a life of its own as the players become more and more engaged in the reality.
