Goodreads Librarians Group discussion

A moderator on the Western Canon board called this article about Frank Delaney to our attention today:

In checking out his Goodreads entry and that of his wife, I seem to have discovered a couple of issues. First, the entry for his wife, listed in the obituary as Diane Meier, appears on Goodreads as: Diane Meier Delaney. Second, Goodreads has entries for Diane Meier and for Diane Meir, which seem to be the same person.

PS -- looks to me as if Diane Meier should be the correct Goodreads entry.

She's published with both variants (With and without Delaney) so both remain, but chooses to maintain the profile at Diane Meier. A lot of authors maintain different names for different publishers/genres, so we generally don't merge them all together unless the author themselves request it, and then only into the more complete version of a name.

I've done some cleanup though, and fixed the Diane Meir one.

Empty entries are automatically cleaned up by the database scripts, eventually.
