Oh, don't get me started on this one, it's one of my most hated books :D Had to read it for uni and it was a huge disappointment to me as it was not at all what I had been led to expect from popular culture.
I haven't read this for ages and may have a chance to read it this month, if I finish a few other books first.
I am about half way through and enjoying it for what it is, a story about a treasure and pirates.
I don't what that book had to do with popular culture, Camille, other than the fact it was about pirates. Most people have probably seen many movie versions, like Muppet Treasure Island, without reading the book.

I enjoyed this one more than I expected too, Trisha.
I like the way Stevenson writes and also the ending of the book.
It was a fun read.

I used to read an abridged version of TI to my second graders back in the 90s. Also, Black Beauty and Tom Sawyer. It was their first taste of “grownup” books and it was a great way to hook them into wanting more. :)
