Samantha | 2087 comments Thanks to all of those who voted for our March 2017 sub-genre of the month: romantic suspense.

Pick any book that is a romantic suspense to listen to during the month.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 5899 comments I'll be listening to Did You Miss Me? by Karen Rose this month.
Did You Miss Me? (Romantic Suspense, #14; Baltimore, #3) by Karen Rose

Samantha | 2087 comments There are so many choices that I got to see. I love looking through the stash.

Samantha | 2087 comments I'll be listening to If You Hear Her (The Ash Trilogy, #1) by Shiloh Walker If You Hear Her this month.

message 5: by Lara (new)

Lara | 81 comments I've started listening to Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley as my first book by Kristen Ashley. So far I'd call it comic romantic suspense as there has been some serious violence so far but the heroine is pretty wild.

Leslie North (leslienorth) | 11 comments Nothing makes romance hotter than a bit of suspense and action! ;P

Samantha | 2087 comments I'm finally started to listen to If You Hear Her (The Ash Trilogy, #1) by Shiloh Walker

message 8: by Lara (new)

Lara | 81 comments I also listened to Northern Lights by Nora Roberts and Act of Mercy (Immortal Ops PSI-Ops, #1) by Mandy M. Roth this month. The first is full of quirky characters and has a sneaky villain. The second has much more action and is paranormal.

Currently I'm listening to Five Weeks (Seven, #3) by Dannika Dark . I always forget how demeaning the shifter culture in this series is towards women. The first book in the series drove me crazy, especially as the heroine was somewhat TSTL. This heroine is smarter, but too forgiving and puts up with too much jerky behavior.

message 9: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 2087 comments Nora is always good. I haven't listened to Northern Lights.

Paris (kerbytejas) (kerbytejas) | 859 comments I listened to No Man's Land (John Puller #4) by David Baldacci No Man's Land really enjoyed it. there is an implied relationship between two of the characters

I'm looking forward to starting that series. I've collected all of the audiobooks.

Never thought about listening to Northern Lights. I'm going to see if I can find it.

Jeez, thanks for letting me know about Dannika Dark's books. I've never read her and after what you said I never will. I don't like TSTL heroines or doormats. Don't know why a female would write about women like that. But, to each his/her own.

I don't know that her other books are like this, but the Seven series has overbearing men and a culture that seems to accept manhandling women. Even the good guys expect women to be victimized by others unless they are heavily protected. And this is a series that is hidden within the regular human world. And the women are rarely strong enough to fight back in a meaningful way unless they shift to their animal forms. I agree that it's extremely frustrating.

Samantha | 2087 comments I had a whole lot of listening distractions this month but I finally finished If You Hear Her If You Hear Her (The Ash Trilogy, #1) by Shiloh Walker . I enjoyed it but that freaking ending!!!! What in the world! I have a few other audios that I now have to hurry through because I need to get back to this series.

I will say that there is a lot of suspense in the book but since the story kind have to continue because of that ending, I think the author relied heavily on the romance which was fine with me :)

Forgot to come back and post here!

This was a 5-star listening experience. It was narrated by Marguerite Gavin who also narrates The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. It took me a bit to shake off the familiarity with that character (Rachel) and transform to this story. Given that this book was 20+ hours, relatively speaking, it didn't take long. Gavin did very well with a massive cast and performed the story exceedingly well.

I'm glad I listened to the book versus reading as Rose's stories are now 500+ pages. I'll be listening to the rest of the series from now on.

I've only read one book by this author and I had mixed feelings about it. The romance was the weak spot. How'd she do here? Did you like the narrator?

Did you like the dual narrators Paris? This one was different in that the male narrator handled all of the male voices and the female all of the women, transitioning whenever there was dialogue or points of view changes.

I don't remember the dual narrators - my bad; sorry.
Great story though!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 5899 comments Lol! Then it must have been a good thing:)

I'm loving that series. I've got the next book ready to go in May.

She did good on the romance. I would say that I rely heavily on the romance since the author took her time with the suspense. It ends on a cliffhanger so I got to get back to the series.

Ha, I LOVE dogs, but wow... there's a lot of dog training info in this book. This story is making me happy I have a "sort of" trained dog at home. No new puppies in my future!

Sarah (thundergirl) | 4 comments I like Karen Rose as well and have listened to many of her books. However, I had to take break. They get pretty darn scary a bit gruesome for me.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 5899 comments Once a month is working for me. You're right about them being downright frightening sometimes.
