My favorite character was Margaritta, the strongest of the female characters. Even with her more modern Italian background, it was really brave of her to take part in the resistance and also push back against social norms by e.g. having a child out of wedlock (and still approaching the family who hated her afterwards). I was curious to learn more about how and why she got involved with the Minister before Soyaan; it's too bad the author didn't elaborate on that.
