Tried it last year, felt it was too academic. Didn't go beyond 20 pages.

He is an academic by profession. But his writings are good for others also. I haven't read this and so can't comment on the book, but I was lucky enough to attend one of his speeches and it was quite accessible and good.

Can we read RK Narayan ? His buildup of characters is quiet enchanting

Hi :) I second this nomination. I recently finished watching Star Plus Siya Ke Ram and it opened my eyes to many points of this epic. Of coz being a Sri Lankan, I loved the take on Ravana there. A friend also recommended this book.

Interesting list I must say. Am so ready to know the results.
