This starts our Weekly Question series.

If I'm not mistaken, the first time travel novel I read was A Wrinkle in Time (Time, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle A Wrinkle in Time.

Glynn | 342 comments Pretty sure the first time travel novel I read was The Time Machine by H.G. Wells The Time Machine.

Duane Parker (tduaneparkeryahoocom) | 28 comments I read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells when I was a youngster and I have been fascinated with the concept ever since.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 225 comments Yes! That is the exact edition I have! The author is far more well known for NIGHT ON WITCH MOUNTAIN, which became a Disney movie, but I believe I still have this exact book.

Ahhh .... neat! I don't still have any of my books from childhood, sadly. I'm not sure what my mom did with them all.

C. The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley I wasn't sure I would care for a time travel romance, but I loved it!

now I also love Second Sight by David Williams

and Waterfall (River of Time, #1) by Lisa Tawn Bergren

Cheryl (cherylllr) As best as I can remember, it would be The Forgotten Door or A Wrinkle in Time for me, too. But it's been so long, we'd have to use a time machine to spy on Young Me.

It was The Time Machine for me.

message 14: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1 comments My first time travel was "Fog Magic" which I read in upper elementary. It hooked me!

message 15: by Larissa (new)

Larissa Brown (larissabrown) | 18 comments I'm with Amy. A Wrinkle in Time was the first. Then as an adult, after a long break in the middle, I read Doomsday Book. I still love that book. It sounds cheesey, but it really opened up this whole world - this idea that there were books about people who time traveled was just wonderful.

That was among the first I read as well ... back when stumbling upon one was always a happy accident.

message 18: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 225 comments Diana Wynn Jones, always a classic.

I don't remember what the first time travel book I read as a kid was (because I'm sure there were lots of them) but the one that got me interested in the genre as an adult was Blackout by Connie Willis.

message 20: by Candace (new)

Candace (cprimackqcom) A Wrinkle in Time. It was the second chapter book I read after a Narnia book and they both hooked me on reading for life.

message 21: by Brizo (new)

Brizo (brizosdream) | 15 comments Daphne du Maurier's - "The House on the Strand" I was very young when I first read it, and then read it again as an adult. Funny how I remember it differently as a child reading it.

message 22: by Paul (new)

Paul (paullev) | 829 comments The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov - and, after all of these years, I still consider it the best.
