HELLO FRIENDS
this discussion is for us to discuss the book A Thousand Pieces of You
that we are buddy reading together.
As of now we are 4 participants in this buddy read Maram , Megan , Menna (aka me ) , and rachelle.
as i always say the more the merrier so if any other interested friends of yours would like to join us then welcome aboard.
we start the book this thursday ( 09-03-2017).
i would like to discuss the strategy for our buddy read
1) we can read 5 chapters a day and discuss together what we think will happen, events ..etc. this will limit spoilers and will allow us to share our excitement over events together while reading. also it will allow some of us a space to read other books on their tbr or stay on time with busy routine as the chapters in this book aren't that big and 5 chapters are doable.
2) read the whole book then discuss it here later.

please do tell me what you prefer to do, i am open to new ways or suggestions.
i have no problem with both ways =D
until next time please enjoy :)

hey, guys how far are you into the book?
I am in chapter 5
I know I know I am supposed to be in 10 but I had a very busy day today, I couldn't read at all :((
but don't worry I will make it up tomorrow hopefully :)
what do you guys think about the book tho??
it's very interesting and the whole parallel dimensions thing keeps circling in my head, I just keep thinking when is another dimension being made?? like she chose tea over coffee for breakfast a new dimension will be created where she chooses coffee.
THE IDEA IS JUST MIND BLOWING. I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES FOR DIMENSIONS =D

✶Rachelle✶ | 7 comments I'm 5 chapters in...I'm a little behind right now but I'm hoping to catch up tonight! I really like the whole idea of dimensions. I'll admit I was a little confused at first, but as kept reading it started to make more sense. It's a pretty cool concept =)

✶Rachelle✶ | 7 comments I just finished....anyone else done or close to finishing? I have lots of thoughts...

I am just in 4 chapters but I love the world and the concept.Since it's short maybe I can finish it in one sitting?

I love the book however i am feeling unable to read it all in one go.
i feel that after sometime of reading the content becomes heavy to go through.
i don't know if that problem is in ME or is it the book?
anyone facing the same struggle????

I truly don't know what is wrong with Goodreads :/
I just got notipficated on maram and deepika's comment

Anyways, let's discuss the book
Each of us will ask a total of 5 questions (and answers them as well). After each of us answering a total of 20 questions then I think we would have discussed every thing possible with this book am i right???

So I'll start =D
1) what did you guys think of the plot of the book??

I thought the plot and the idea of the dimensions were amazing. However I see a lot of things that could have been done better to help with the understanding of the plot much easier for example, how and when and why are these dimensions made??

2) what do you guys think of the writing style??

I think her style was generally okayish
It was easy to go through in the first few chapters but then as the book progresses the style didn't keep me interested for long so I started getting bored and feeling that the book is repetitive. This made me have to leave the book and return to it later thus elongating the time in which I read the book :(

3) do you believe that the other marguerites remember what happened???

I believe they do because our original paul and dad and theo Said they had a faint memory of what had happened while they were "reminder-less". Also basing on the fact that marguerite is a special dimension traveler then I think her other versions will be able to remember what happened clearly ( not faintly like the others).

4)Did you guys feel guilty cuz Russian marguerite may not remember her moments with her paul ???

Yes, I felt so damn guilty even before the main scene, starting from just dancing with him. It certainly made me enjoy the book less cuz this feeling of utter annoyance and guilt I felt is extreme.

I will never understand how she allowed herself the privilege to use the Russian marguerites body in this way and to love paul and make him believe to the last second that she was his marguerite then tells him the truth at a point where there is no redemption for what she had already done :( that is what I see as pure selfishness and unfairness.

Also, the original marguerite always leaves the host marguerite to face consequences of things she had never done or remember doing

Like promising a London royalty to go out clubbing with her

Or

Being pregnant by a dead lover you don't remember having sex with thus u have no idea who the father of your child is and then getting disowned by your supposed to be father the tsar and probably prevented from interfering or talking with your siblings that you love in fear that you will put ideas like this in their minds causing them to bring their father's name the tsar down to the ground just like you did :(

Or

Talking freely to paul and theo in a world that you aren't supposed to know them then leaving the host marguerite to face the questions of her sister, mother, father, paul, and theo on how they know each other :/

5) what is one thing you think should have been in the book???

I would have loved to have the original traveler be able to view the host's thoughts, memories, and dreams. this would have removed a lot of the repetitive confusion that truly got boring after the first time.

Also please add to this point that I wish that the traveler and the host would have been able to interact and have "mind" conversations.

Yes the traveler will be dominant and will control the host's body and actions.

However having these conversations between 2 versions of oneself would have been powerful in conveying the hidden message in this book which I think was that our choices and circumstances only change a superficial layer of our personality and looks but we will always remain the same person deep down because that is how we are born.

Plus it would have been a lot funnier to read the confused panicking of the host when he/she realizes that they are no longer in control of themselves.

In addition to the fact that it would have given the host a clear chance to say his opinion on the things happening around him and to help in making a decision rather than the annoying assumption of the traveler that the host would have wanted this to happen or would have wanted me to do that.

{ because I would never imagine that Russian marguerite would agree to be left facing the consequences I mentioned above in Q4 of having unprotected sex with paul and not remembering it. UGH THIS REALLY IS ANNOYING ME, SUCH A SELFISH THING TO DO }

I am looking forward to reading your answers to these questions and answering your 15 questions ( 5 each lol) and reading everyone's answers on those same 15 questions. LOL, that was a confusing sentence :D
