Yesss there's so much more character developed in a series and you get way more attached to the characters because you get so much more time to learn who they are.
Series definitely have more potential than stand alone stories do. I feel like with reading a series, you grow up with the characters. With stand alone books, I feel that there are too many unanswered questions and the majority of stand alone stories I've read, the characters were really flat and unoriginal.
I love fault in our stars. However my favourite stand alone would have to be The Call. I can't remember how to spell the authors name but the story was beautifully written and so original. It was slightly grotesque however I find that those types of novels tend to be my favourite.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to read it.
I'd say it's hard to find a good stand alone book, in my opinion. I read mostly series and the stand alones I read aren't that entertaining. I do think that good stand alones are easier to find in the historical fiction genre. I enjoy "Prisoner B-3087" by Alan Gratz, "Between shades of gray" and "salt to the sea" both by Ruta Septys. I enjoy how realistic the authors make the story and that when you read, it's almost like you can feel the pain these characters had to go through and their emotions. I do also think that John Green is a pretty good author, I loved "the Fault in Our Stars" and "Looking for Alaska". Sarah Dessen has pretty good stand alones as well, I'm just not as hooked on her books. Since her books are mostly about love and someone's journey to find love, and things like that. The books are well written and I enjoy them for that but, I'm not that into love stories as a genres. I do like romance books, if there's adventure involved. I know that this isn't a stand alone book but a addicting Romance/Adventure series is the "Fallen novels" by Lauren Kate.
