Julia You make our own creature, describe how they look and their traits. And we can also add some facts. What they like, silly talents etc. 50 points. You may do it as many times as you want but at least 1 person must post in between. Thank You Aarifa for this idea!

Mary Catelli Winged rabbit. A small and delicate creature, generally in gray for fur, with brilliant butterfly wings that are generally solid in color but are found in a wide variety of pastel and bright shades.

They are inordinately fond of clover and carrots, and are voracious eaters in general. A wizard who wishes to raise them must remember that he can not conjure food for them any more than for humans.

They can also deliver messages as an owl can, but only over a distance less than a league.

The Book Granny (thebookgranny) Hogterriers. (still not sure on the name...)

Similar to hedgehogs. Their spines are rigid but very soft and slightly rounded. They have small, floppy ears similar to a jack Russell terrier (only sized to fit the hogterrier).

They are extremely who love to play and cuddle. You need to be careful because their extremely curious nature causes them to roam or climb- unfortunately, they often get lost or stuck because they can't climb down!

Although generally loving and kind creatures, you must be wary. The magical power of the hogterrier lies in the fact that they are able to influence the mood of a person or small group of people. Usually this is a good thing as they help to create peaceful and happy emotions. However, trained in the hands of the wrong witch or wizard, they can just as easily be used to encourage fear, hate, and jealousy.

Hogterriers will pretty much eat anything. But they are most fond of blueberries, pumpkin seeds, spinach leaves, and chocolate chips.

Mary Catelli dragonhound

This very rare dog was specifically bred to aid in the hunting of dragons. It is a sight-hound (tracks by vision) and is capable of flight during the hunt although completely lacking in wings or any other means of flight. Can ascend no faster than it could run up an equivalent slope.

They are long-legged, lean and snow-white, though some have spots of red or black, which folklore attributed to dragonfire or soot from dragonfire. They are completely immune to fire and often curl up in the fireplace.

Mary Catelli big-eyed guard dog.

These famous dogs are noted for their enormous eyes -- which have been described as large as saucers, mill-stones, or even a tower. Mastiffs in shape and generally dark in color, they can put on an object (mostly chests) to guard it, and seem magically capable of surviving without food for long times. Feeding periods require throwing it meat, which it will catch in midair, to avoid giving the impression that you are trying to take what they are guarding.

Certain enchanted cloths can be used to allow access; spread the cloth on the ground, and the dog will allow you to remove it and put it on the cloth. Unfortunately, this is also possible for magical thieves.

To stop its guarding, wrap it in the cloth and carry it away. Or have your friendly neighborhood half-giant carry it away.

Mary Catelli azure bovine.

Also known as the big blue ox (or cow or bull).

While in all other respects identical to other cattle, this variant is completely blue. They range from sky blue to true blue.

Occasional variants grow to enormous size and are famed from their hauling power. Their diet is equally enormous.

message 7: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli sylphine cat

This aerial cat is transparent and only slightly colored; it can easily be missed, particularly when basking or sleeping. It can prowl through air as well as on land and generally eats birds.

The species is carefully controlled as it is frequently an invasive species and can be immensely damaging to native songbirds.

message 8: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Golden deer

This elusive creature is sometimes regarded as mythical. Never forming herds, it lives alone in the deep forest. No fawns have ever been observed.

Catching one will force it to reveal that it talks and grant you wishes. However, shedding its blood will cause red violets to spring up, and killing it will blight the region.

message 9: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Greenteeth

Dangerous water-dwelling creatures whose true form is invariably obscured in pond scum, they lure people, especially children, into the waters to drown for unknown reasons -- despite their name, they do not devour the victim.

message 10: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Opal quasi-dragon.

Not actually a dragon -- long and vaguely serpentine, with legs -- but furred instead of scales -- said fur being iridescent in color and dazzling in brightness, so that no one gets a clear look at it.

A blind wizard once trained them to guard his home. He reports they like milk in saucers and also oatmeal with honey. They are fond of playing with marbles.

message 11: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Ruby birds

Small ruby-colored songbirds. Can be caged and kept as a pet similar to a canary, but its song is too shrill to be heard by any but small children, and dogs hate it.

message 12: by Pat (new)

Pat Angelpuff

A small bird that looks pure like an angel and cute like a ball made of fur. His colors are usually silver or white. Despite looking like a normal bird it is very agressive and hates being near humans. Lives near lakes and eats small fishes. Doesn't have any special power except that is imune to poison.

message 13: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Glass-winged butterfly.

This butterfly's wings are colorless viewed from the right angle, so as to appear invisible -- and the wings seemed to appear ( a translucent white) and disappear as they fly.

They are particularly fond of graveyards but avoid the presence of ghosts so thoroughly that no two have been seen together.

Many legends have sprung up about their being either death spirits or themselves a kind of ghost.

message 14: by Francesca (new)

Francesca | 460 comments Robin Yellow-Breasts.

Similar in appearance to Robin red-breasts but their breasts are a bright yellow. They only appear to those who they can trust and that they sense are good people (they have keen instincts and can sense people who are evil and untrustworthy and will not go near them). They sing soothing melodies and have the power to rejuvenate those they come into contact with.

They like warm sunny days, bright flowers, are drawn to the sounds of music and laughter, and enjoy eating fruits.

message 15: by Zaya (new)

Zaya Harker (hamiltrashdoggo) Suraticis Opis (Opril)
Winged deer, with the head of wolf, tail of a Raccoon
Smaller than a normal deer, and with more fur color variations. Fur is also longer than a normal deer's fur
Patterns of fur can be dappled, spots, brindle, tabby, plain, or dark with light underbelly
Head of a wolf
Hawk-like wings that vary in color, can be white, black, gray, or different shades of blue/purple
Very smart creatures, will use sticks and rocks as tools. Also will seek healing herbs in case of sickness or injury.
Extremely shy and will flee at the first sign of danger.
They live in herds of around 5-15 individuals
They live in the mountains
Green blood
Vegetarians, even though they are part wolf, Raccoon, and hawk
Eats nuts, berries, leaves, and twigs
They make their homes by digging a trench, then covering it with trees to crawl under while sleeping or hiding.
Can occasionally be found in a symbiotic relationship with the Horned Hamster, a relatively slow animal. But it has a knack for finding food. The Opril will give the Horned Hamster the advantage of speed, and in turn it will find food for the Opril in the harsh mountain climate.
Young look kind-of like a fluffy sheep. Since the Opril molts every year, they use the soft, early fuzz of molting young to line their sleeping areas.

message 16: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Ladon quasi-dragon

Not a true dragon, but long, snake-like, with golden scales. Fond of living in orchards for their fruit and particularly of apples, but also eats meat. Unlike dragons, rather intelligent. Some eccentric and reclusive wizards have been known to tame them as guardians.

message 17: by Zaya (new)

Zaya Harker (hamiltrashdoggo) Aquariserpe caninlum (Water Hound)

Looks like a Greyhound
Has a crocodile-like tail
Webbed paws
Four eyes
Glowing bands of fur on legs and back, glowing bands of scales on tail
About the size of a baby elephant
Lives in kelp forest
Also eats kelp
If you look into its eyes you see your worst mistake... and then what you can do to fix it
Although fearsome-looking, is quite calm and some have been known to rescue divers from drowning

message 18: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Belfry bat

Looking, eating, and living almost exactly like an ordinary bat, the belfry bat slowly drives insane the inhabitants of any building that it roosts in the eaves of. Churches, with actual belfries, are among the least dangerous of places, cases only having been found rarely among people who spend hours in prayer in church, and also seem particularly susceptible. Homes and boarding schools are extremely dangerous.

They can be attracted by the ringing of bells.

aarifa Thunderhawk

This big guy with wings reaching up to 10 feet and as tall as 7 feet, can fly up to the highest clouds. He loves to eat rats, rabbits, reindeer, and anything that starts with an R! Strange! He is attracted to the colors of the rainbow, and is also attracted to the sunset, when it is his time to eat. His screech is as loud as an airplane's, and his wings create wind even colder than a blizzard. When he lands on the ground you can feel it from up to 20 miles away, and it sounds like thunder. It is a distant relative of the hawk family, but is very very different. It has a stubby tail, with the colors blue and purple. the rest of the feathers are grayish white. It's beak is 5 inches long, long enough for swooping up a rat by its tail.
You can't exaclty see it flying, because it is so high. if you ever do see one during the sunset hours, do not go near it, for it hates to be disturbed while looking for food, and you may even disturb the prey.

message 20: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli stained glass butterfly

A breed of butterfly found only in magical captivity, its wings are delicate patterns of black veins among colorful sections, often forming recognizable pictures. The caterpillars can survive only on a diet of petals.

message 21: by Cooper (new)

Cooper (coopermichael) | 42 comments The haunted house sparrow

This bird is midnight blue in color, and has white stripes going down it's boddy. It is very fast, so it looks like it teleports. It eats young nuts and berries before they are fully ripe. It has a sound that is like a moaning ghost, and when it dies, a batch of gold is left in it's place. Many wizards hunt for them to get rich on gold, but very few succeed.

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli Night-and-day

This bird shifts between midnight black and sky blue as the light shifts on it, though the effect is not quite iridescence, as no other color ever appears in its plumage. Itself a seed eating bird, when pursued by predators, it is capable of producing blasts of light or shadow to blind them.
