YA and Beyond discussion

My 2017 reading challenge! I don't really have any specific goals this year ... I just want to read 50 books.

I didn't read anything in January or February *bows head in shame* but hopefully I'll be able to catch up during the rest of the year!

It's ok Brigid. I have been more into political radio than before so my audiobook consumption is severely lacking lately too!

@Heidi - Yeah I get that ... the current political environment is stressing me out a lot, I've been way more anxious than usual (which is saying something for me...lol) so it's just been really hard for me to be productive. But I'm trying to get back in the swing of things again.

Update: I've bumped my goal down to 25, lol. At this rate I just really don't think I'll be able to reach my initial goal of 50. Reading has just been tough for me lately so I think this goal will be more manageable. :P

Also I'm gonna try to read mostly books that I already own!! I have so many books I've bought that I haven't read yet, so I really need to tackle those.

Thank you, Heidi! And it's ok, it's been a tough year...I'm impressed by anyone who's been managing to get anything done at all, lol. I've also just been a lot busier this year than the past couple years––which is good and all, I just haven't had as much time/energy to read.

Wow this is a bit late but yeah I only ended up reading 14 books in 2017 and like 3/4 of them were comics/graphic novels. :P Reading for me just became extremely difficult in 2017 for some reason, but I'm hoping this year will be better!

Same here Brigid - I think I read 20 books (used to read 150 books!) Here is hoping we both read more in 2018!

Yes sounds like we were in a similar slump, Heidi. Same, I think I used to read about 100 a year (and when I was still in school, too!) and now the thought of doing that is like incomprehensible. But on the other hand I do feel like I skimmed too much and also read a lot of books I didn't end up liking that much. I've been trying to be choosier about what I read and taking my time more, which I think are both good things. But yes I hope we both have a successful reading year in 2018!
