Wilhelmina Jenkins | 2049 comments Jacqueline Woodson's Another Brooklyn and Nicole Y. Dennis-Benn's Here Comes the Sun have been nominated for the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction. Joe Okonkwo's Jazz Moon and Darryl Pinckney's Black Deutschland are nominees for Gay Fiction. The Lambda Literary Awards celebrate achievement in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer writing for books published in 2016.

I'm going to need some help on this one. Does anyone recognize any other authors of color among the nominees?

Thanks, Mina

There's three right away that I recognized:
Ocean Vuong for Night Sky with Exit Wounds
Kevin Mumford for Not Straight, Not White: Black Gay Men from the March on Washington to the AIDS Crisis, and
Derrick Austin for Trouble the Water and looking at some of the names there's quite a few more...

I can remember years past when there were only like four categories to choose from. Progress, progress, progress.

Yes, this list has really expanded over the years!

Here are a couple that I recognize:
The Angel of History by Rabih Alameddine

Black Dove: Mamá, Mi'jo, and Me by Ana Castillo

Will Do Magic for Small Change by Andrea Hairston

The Devourers by Indra Das
