Paul Fulcher (fulcherkim) 90 pages in I'm impressed as well.

Paul Fulcher (fulcherkim) Very impressed.

Norwegian literature generally is a favourite of mine - Dag Solstad, Jan Kjærstad, Karl Ove Knausgård, Per Petterson and Lars Saabye Christensen for example - and this is another excellent example.

Neil Just finished. Review here: The Unseen

In an understated way, this is a very engrossing read. It doesn't make a fuss about things and even the moments of drama aren't really very dramatically told. I enjoyed it.

I think I've just said basically the same as Anya in different words!

Jill (jillreads) | 48 comments I agree with you all. It's lovely in a quiet way. I thought the descriptions of the sea and the weather were very vivid. Also, for a rather "simple" story, he manages to show us the dimensions of the characters without getting bogged down in the emotions. A lot of the emotion in the book, actually, was conveyed implicitly.

I am really enjoying this long list - much more in fact than the Man Booker list last year, which surprises me!
