J A N GJang Siyeon is proof that there's hope for everyone. Now, it might be difficult to believe that Siyeon was once the ugly duckling of her peers, but it's true. She was also the unluckiest. PE? Hit in the face with a multiple dodgeballs. At the same time. Piano recital? Played the wrong song. Cotillion? None of the boys wanted to ask her to dance because she wasn't pretty enough. In general, Siyeon's early years were unfortunate. The only area in which she ever excelled was singing, and even then, no one wants the ugly kid front and center at the choir concert.

Ryan has never wanted to be just a statistic. No; he's always wanted to make a better life for himself and his mom. Ever since his dad left, his mom had never really been herself, and it impacted her ability to work. That's why he always worked hard, so he could get a scholarship, and then a degree. Through all of this, dancing and rapping were his only consistent outlet. And he made it through — he graduated, he did the things he promised his mom that he would do.
And then his mom died.
It's no one's fault — she fell victim to a hereditary heart disease, and she hadn't been able to afford any tests that might have warned them ahead of time. It's not like they would have been able to afford the things that might have saved her. But he didn't really know what to do, then, and then this opportunity came up — and really, what does he have to lose?
A L E X AAnyone in the company of Alexa Park might find themselves asking, at any given moment, what the fuck? She has that effect. Even though she works hard, she has a certain air of not-taking-this-seriously, which seems to frustrate people easily, at least when they're all competing here. But hey, she's just a kid, okay? The thing is that Jun Ji-hoon is a talented vocalist. The problem is just that he's on the wrong show. A twenty-one year old who can write songs like he's Taylor Swift and belt like Josh Groban does not belong on an idol group competition. But Ji-hoon doesn't do things halfway, so he might as well give it a shot.
H E OThere is something about Heo Suji that is, quite simply, graceful. Even without knowing anything about her dedicated past with ballet, it's easy to see that she's a dancer — of course, her complete and utter lack of singing and rapping talent are a good clue too. Pandora is what happens when you give a pair of twins (mostly) free reign in a household. Between the two of them, there's an arsenal of instruments they know how to play, plus Lee has an incredible voice while Pandora can rap faster than Nicki Minaj in Super Bass, and they help keep each other out of trouble — which is extra helpful whenever Pandora keeps falling into the wrong crowd.
[ ♕ — Secret ] When people get angry, they might take a walk to cool their heads. Pandora writes diss tracks. She's stopped posting them online, but if you look around hard enough on Youtube, you can find some older tracks uploaded — though they're not very good.

Though she has a lovely, sweet and clear voice, Sora's talents don't lie in her vocals — they lie in her incredible ukulele skills. Growing up in a working class family meant that her parents couldn't always be around, so little Sora entertained herself with the 'baby guitar' her parents had bought her. She eventually got very good at it — but she's painfully shy and quiet.

Gwen has loved to sing ever since she was little. It's always been her favourite pasttime, just wandering around the countryside singing and hearing her voice echo. She grew up in a fairly small town, however, so though it was obvious she had natural talent there wasn't much room for improvement without a teacher until they finally got ahold of someone three towns over to come and meet with her once a week. From there, she only continued to improve. Eventually, her teacher told her she should audition for Produce 101. She was sure to get in with a voice like hers, he told her, and while her dancing was only average and her rapping skills nonexistent he believed she could make it fairly far in the competition and at the very least get her name on the map. Her parents were deadset against the idea, of course, but one night she packed a bag, hopped on a train and ended up in New York.

Ever since she was scouted to be a child actress extra in some Hollywood movie on the streets of her hometown, Malibu, full name Aleksandra (but nicknamed Aleksa) Jin had wanted to become a superstar, and it's her cheerful demeanour, diligent attitude and ambition that's kept her going the whole time. Her singing and dancing classes were kindly sponsored by her indulgent parents, though rapping was something that she taught herself.
[ ♕ — Secret ] Can you say 'petty'? It was totally her ex-boyfriend's fault — why'd he break up with Aleksa over text if he didn't want her to frame him for shoplifting? And it's not like he wouldn't have done it eventually anyway.

One look at Oh Hee-chul, and you know that he's a special guy. There's really this confidence about him -- some might even consider it baseless overconfidence, but then again, some might see it as admirable. Either way, Hee-chul does his thing. Nothing is 'that deep' to him -- he just does what he wants, when he wants, and he really doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe it's not, though, because you're going to have to hear him wail like a banshee for the entire time he's on this show because he refuses to listen to the vocal trainers' advice.

Dean Yao is already kind of a celebrity. He was a backup dancer for Hit the Stage. He got over 800,000 views on Youtube when his former company, IG, posted a video of him covering I'm Not the Only One by Sam Smith. But when IG brought up trainee contract renewals, Dean realized that whatever success and publicity a large company could buy him would mean very little if he wasn't the one creating the content. So he terminated the contract and moved to a much smaller company─ and now, 1.5 years down the line, he's made his re-emergence as the sole contestant of JAMM Entertainment.D E A N

What he lacks for in distinct style or talent he makes up for with his suave gestures, his hand-kisses, his adorable reluctant finger hearts. Sure, JackJack may go over the top sometimes. He may be the one who gets the joke five minutes too late. And yes, even JackJack may not even be fully aware of how much cringe-y charm oozes out of his (nonexistent) pores. It's merely the fact that she literally can not do a single thing but sing. And sing as well as she might, producers simply don't want an awkward one trick pony which is basically all she is. But she swore if she made it past auditions for this show she would learn because a following and a voice isn't all it takes to win.

You see-- Gabriel, or Gabe as he likes to be referred as tries to be manly. He really really does. But the shaggy hair, the small young face and the prescription glasses just gives everyone a reason to pinch his cheeks and call him adorable. It's so hard to judge his talents when people are too busy gawking at his perfect teeth, sunny attitude and awkward dispositions. But he'll show everyone he's not a baby that should be cuddledhopefully...actually probably not.
