Author and Illustrator Brendan Wenzel

I used this book often for February I Love to Read month read alouds! A Caldecott honour book, it has beautiful illustrations and really captures the children's attention. It provides great discussion material as each animal or person who sees the cat has a different perspective. Some see the cat as cute and cuddly and some see it as viscous and scary. The students became very observant on each page and wanted to go back when they reached the end! The story is lots of fun!

By Angela May George and Owen Swan. It tells the story of a girl and her mother and begins with the narrator saying "I’m called an asylum seeker, but that’s not my name....." The artwork is powerful.

I will check it out. It isn't familiar to me.

Do you have Oliver Jeffers' and Sam Winston's I am a Child of Books?
