Could it be possible that Rez through the spell cast on him to disguise and hide his true identity through the focus of his own will be affecting the behaviour of Frisha, Reaylin, Shelia and other women that come into his sphere of influence is subconsciously willing them to really like him.

Not because he wants to seduce them or garner their attention in a particular way but because the only thing he really fears is affection, intimacy and love. He can take on armies, tackle any kind of threat with calm assurance and win the day he has vast knowledge on almost any subject (except women).

He lacks emotional growth, knowledge and defences. He was deliberately trained to supress all emotions, to fear intimacy and sex. Could his subconscious both wanting and fearing intimacy be screwing with the spell's influence over these confusing, dangerous, sexy and scary people called women he doesn't understand by willing them to like him in a defensive manner because he perceives them as a theat?

I think he's naturally very very good looking. He's exceptionally polite and gentlemanly ( for lack of a better word) and everybody thinks he's either a very highborn lord or a sword bearer. I think all the interest he garners is his own natural appeal.

I only have my own interpretation but that's what I got from reading it. He doesn't really seem to understand emotions so I doubt he's intentionally or subconsciously inspiring lust or intimacy.

I think the spell has something to do with it. Plus he's trained to try and seem whatever he needs to be for someone to want to help him or at least not be suspicious or want to kill him...

The girls just seem too rabid about him for it to ONLY be his good looks. Plus there was something Frisha and Tam were talking about--how she typically doesn't go for the guys that most of the girls moon over and is behaving strangely regarding Rez.

Now... the subtler subconscious stuff? Maybe... But it seems to be something he REALLY doesn't want to be happening, all these girls fighting over him. I guess something weird could be going on, and he's causing things to happen he isn't aware of and doesn't want. I mean--that's basically what's happening, spell or not. So yeah, it could involve something like that.

I tend to want to keep explanations to the most simple and obvious unless there's some other clues. We know there's a spell cast on him that he isn't aware of that has an effect on how those around him see him and interact with him... there could be another explanation, or a more complex explanation... but we don't really have any little hints, aside from the whole situation--which you are using to come up with this idea.

We'll just have to wait and see to know for sure, though! But it's a good theory.

Remember there were also moments when he and Frisha touched and kissed that he 'liked' it and wouldn't mind if it happened again. He is oblivious to relationships and how they affect feelings...he understands the concept, but not the emotion. I think we'll see that as the relationships develop in book 3, the emotions will start to seep through...you can't fake them, but I suppose a spell could diminish them. That being said, now that they all know the true identity isn't the 'spell' no longer effective on those people?

There's a spell on Rez that affects the will of those around him and their perception of him. Rez often wishes to appear normal or average and to blend in. Real world studies suggest that beauty in faces is partly due to the averages of facial ratios (eye height & depth nose length lip size mouth width ear size brow height ect ect.. all the things our brains subconsciously do in pattern recognition to identify faces we know) combined with close symmetry of those ratios.(social rules & ques not included) So is Rez willing people he is the most average person and therefore the most hansome their subconscious mind can conceive?

Supposedly, some of the spells cast on Rez won't work as effectively when the person knows about it... I guess we'll have to wait and see if most people's perception of Rez changes or not.

I think relationships and perceptions are going to have to change, spell or not, given that Rez is coming out into the open as a claimant to the throne...

There seems to be an aspect of the spell cast on him that makes people more willing to accept him as whomever he says he is, and to help him out. I don't think it's beauty so much as charisma. But even without that... Rez is big and well-built and muscled and just generally impressive. He's going to be attractive on some level even without a spell. But he's been described as being very striking to look at, with blue eyes and fair skin and dark hair... the spell was also there so that people wouldn't totally be knocked over by his looks and remember him... and maybe recall that he looks like the king??? or something like that. Wasn't there something about him that reminded the General and/or his wife of someone or other?

So I don't really think he's looking average under the spell... rather more something like a "you don't really see anything remarkable here, move on" kind of Jedi Mind Trick thing.

Thats a very good point as the only possibly unbiased view of rez we get before the revelation of his lineage is from rez himself looking into a mirror and analysing his own features as startling, intimidating and dangerous with an air of authority and confidence. There are also many incidents of people recognising rez then dismissing the thought in a "these aren't the droids we are looking for" kind of way.
