Bridge of Birds
question
How to find Barry Hughart?

Just finished reading a book by Barry Hughart, and this tiny fairy tale full of simple yet beautiful wit and wisdom has left me mesmerised. Tried to look up the author, but couldn't find any trace of him almost. Also got dismayed that he stopped writing after just three books. I would like to convey my message of gratitude to the author. Can anyone suggest how we can get in touch with him?

I was able to contact him through his agent, Jerry Kuntz, 15 years ago. It turns out he only published 3 books, and had a 4th ready but refused to even self-publish it. He got burned on the release of his third book while the publisher was changing hands and had to get a 'real' job to make ends meet. He explained that Ox's narrative in the Master Li books is hard to write (goes all wrong easily), so each book takes a long time to write. The earnings from the books simply won't support that kind of time investment.
That's very unfortunate, I wish we lived in a different world.
Do you think we can still get in touch with him somehow?
