I'm thinking of starting up some polls on the group, instead of doing a monthly book discussion. As much as I loved those, it seemed like we'd have great participation on choosing the book - but not so much on discussing the book. haha. Since answering a poll question (and maybe participating in a fun chat) is easier sometimes than participating in a book chat, I thought we'd give this a try. I posted one today, a regency cover contest!

Thoughts??

Kim | 207 comments I like the idea. Everyone has time for a poll and loves finding out the results. This will be fun and interesting!

Thanks Kim! I'm trying to decide if I should leave the polls open-ended, or just have them up for a week and the. Do a post about who won? Hmm...

Julie Carpenter | 140 comments Great idea! I think if you have it open for a couple days or a week then it's not too long or forgotten. Enough time to allow everyone to get votes and remember the poll while waiting for the results. ;-)

Kim | 207 comments I agree with everything Julie said to keep it a couple days to to a couple weeks so it is not forgotten and everyone can get to it while waiting for the end group results. Voted on the first one!

Thanks for the feedback! I totally agree. How often would you like to see polls? Weekly or a couple times a month?

Julie Carpenter | 140 comments However often you get the hankering to ask us questions... ;-)

Kim | 207 comments I agree with Julie keep it flexible how often you have a poll or it will become a tedious homework assignment to you that you will resent. You are a busy military wife, active church going woman, and mom of young children if I remember right? If you do have somewhat frequent polls, spread the responsibility out among some of the many moderators. I also like when sometimes we have had a group question in the past we were polled on that required a written answer. I would like to continue that once in a great while. I have learned a lot things from other group members in the past years like the pen names of my favorite authors, different discount (or free) ebook notice email subscriptions (bad or good quality), and what members definition of clean romance was. So just keep it easy and fun for you and for the group members. Like Julie said just how often you "get the hankering"
