At first I didn't catch on to this book, it took me a little bit to figure out what was happening. The author doesn't tell you right away why the main character hates her father so much. She doesn't explain why the main characters father was in prison. But you realize after a little more reading what had happened. And that is what makes you keep reading, this book makes you want to constantly read to find out what happens next. The main character is telling her story in present point of view and past point of view to give the reader the full affect of what she went through. I admire the main character and her strength throughout the book, many people in that situation would have given up and had a different outcome to their life, but what she did was courageous.
