Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I thought we had a thread for ths but I didn't see one so I wanted to get it started. I have just finished The Struggle a couple of days ago. I love these books because of Seth but there are always issues. For example, I have found that Armentrout doesn't really try to hide the big reveal from the reader. From the beginning, I knew what was going down and had to read about 70-80 percent of the book for the characters to finally realize it. She is really good at writing bad ass male characters and I do like the female character, Josie, a lot more than Alex.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I haven't read this one until I get to the series that started it all, which means I need to read VA first.

I really do think she is great at writing bad boys, though her contemp ones are really jerks.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I think Maybe you are talking about Richelle Mead? Armentrout wrote the covenant series and Seth is a character from that originally they said you don't need to read the original series first but I disagree because you will be spoiled for those characters even though they aren't the main characters in The Titans series.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Yes! Mead.

I'm a read in order kind of person, even if it's just spinoffs.

Oh okay, I thought you were saying that the VA series needs to be read before this one because this one is a spin-off of the VA :'D. I urge everyone to read the Covenant series first even though I'm annoyed by the two leads. Alex and Aiden really think their shit doesn't stink and its even more obvious in the Spin-off when they finally appear.

I like the VA series for the most part (Mead) but I was very disappointed with the Bloodlines series. I feel like she lost interest in the story and it went in a very mediocre direction that made absolutely no sense.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Oops. Sorry my sleep deprived brain is not functioning right.

No. I want to finish reading the VA series first, since Armentrout's first series is clearly a rip off and then move on to this spinoff.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments hmm I actually didnt feel like it was a rip off. Armentrout seems to always pick different mystical creatures than the norm. there are similarities in the beginning but I think a lot of YA books do this so its like the chicken or the egg in a way.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Mystical/mytho not a rip off. However, the basic story is a lot like the first VA book.

haha I agree but a lot of books have similar stories. IMO its what the author does with the story that makes it stand out and makes it not the same if that makes sense. honestly, I think I liked Armentrout's better in the end especially the spin-off as compared to Meads spin off which I think she lost interest in.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Agreed. I really liked the first one of AJ books.
