I'm thinking about doing something for how I write chapters. Let's say you're on chapter 6 and and when you finish that chapter and your go on to chapter 7. Simple enough right? But what if you finish chapter 6 and you go to a chapter that takes place between 6 and 7. It would be called Chapter 6.5. Is this a good idea?


(Sorry if this was a bit confusing to read, it was hard for me to put into words.)

Is it like something happening meanwhile? And you're just going back to that person?

It's going to be happening meanwhile. Right now, chapter 6 is on a Saturday, 6.5 will be on Sunday showing something that was mentioned on 6 and 5. And 7 will pick the plot back up where it was.

Maybe it would be better to chunk your time based on days? Instead of Chapter 1, you could have for example Saturday and then if you flashback, you could write "Interlude" or something.
