I am a writer of fiction in mystery, suspense/thriller, speculative genres whose main characters are gay. While this doesn't define or limit my characters, it does provide excellent opportunities for exciting plots with a twist. Many diverse writers have influenced my style of writing over the years; among them David Baldacci, John Grisham and Michael Crichton to groundbreaking novelists Patricia Nell Warren, Michael Nava and Felice Picano. Other more current gay mystery writers who influence my writing are Greg Herren, David Lennon and John Morgan Wilson.
Pretty Boy Dead, the first mystery in a series set in Atlanta featuring closeted Homicide Detective, Sgt. Kendall Parker, is my first full-length novel released by Wilde City Press and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in Gay Mystery. My erotic thriller novella, Switch Hitter(co-written with Alex Morgan) was also released by Wilde City Press in 2013. I am currently working on the next Kendall Parker mystery as well as a stand-alone speculative gay romance novella titled Prince of the Sea, which I hope to release later in 2014.
A southern Georgia native, I live in Atlanta with my life-long partner of 29 years and four monstrous terriers!

Hi, everyone - I write fiction as Meg Perry, but my name is actually Rachel. I write the Jamie Brodie Mysteries, which are gay mystery with a touch of romance. Jamie is an academic librarian (as am I) who helps solve crimes through research. I've never solved a crime through research myself - at least not yet.I live in Daytona Beach, FL, on a barrier island. I'm a dog person with two cats - don't ask how that happened! In addition to mystery I enjoy reading history and m/m romance.

Hello my name is Rodd Clark I write M/M mysteries and suspense as well, better known by the Colton Brantley Mysteries. Hi Group!
Hello all. It's nice to see this group here. My name's Mark McNease. I'm the author of the Kyle Callahan Mysteries, with three books out in the series (Murder at Pride Lodge, Pride and Perilous, and Death in the Headlights) with a fourth coming later this year. The books feature an older (50s) male couple, Kyle and Danny, and was intended to create a series for those of us in, shall we say, maturity. Kyle quickly becomes friends with lesbian Detective Linda Sikorsky from the New Hope, PA, police force, in the first book, and they've become a team as the stories commute from the Pennsylvania/New Jersey countryside to Manhattan. The upcoming book is the third in the Pride Trilogy. The current book features Det. Linda (with the same cast), as a needed departure from urban serial killers.I'm also the publisher and editor of lgbtSr.org, a site founded 3 1/2 years ago to serve the over-50 LGBT population. It's gone very well. The Facebook Page has over 4,000 followers and it's been a huge joy for me to provide an online space for a community that often feels forgotten.
Lastly, I'm co-editing and publishing a book of short fiction, Outer Voices Inner Lives, by LGBT writers over 50, to come out this year, with a forward by iconic writer Patricia Nell Warren (The Front Runner). MadeMark Publishing is the imprint for all the books, which is mine. Have a good weekend, hope to see some more activity here.Mark McNease

I publish every Friday, sometimes more often, it's just one email with any new content, if you're interested. The anthology should be out by Thanksgiving and I'll do a giveaway, so stay tuned (same for the new mystery). Take care, and thanks so much for the reply. - Mark

Hi, Mark, it's good to "meet" you! I thoroughly enjoyed Murder at Pride Lodge - I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
Meg, thanks for making my day! And Jon. I just might figure out Goodreads yet, it's been a bit of a mystery to me. :)
A Short Ride to Hell Republished my first book in my series this month, my second one is out as well, I hope to get the same success you have attained
Hi Rodd. If that comment was meant for me, I'm not as successful as I'd like to be! But it's all about doing what we love. I couldn't NOT write something.
Hi Mark,Right I haven't read any of your books but they are now on my list to read. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

Thanks! There's a new one coming out by Christmas, a sort of serial killer stocking stuffer.
Hi Mark I've not read your book yet but would like to at some point. Will it be available in Epub format anytime soon?
Mark wrote: "Hi Rick. I just sent you a message. Hope you get it."

Hi all, Just thought I'd say hello. I'm British, living in the North East of England. I have always loved mysteries and suspense novels since I was a child: reading Ruth Rendell, Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers and Margery Allingham (I think I had a bit of a crush on Albert Campion as a young teenager - is that wrong?) in my youth. I also love general gay fiction and thus a gay mystery thriller is pretty much bliss to me.
Anyway. Just thought I'd say hello.
Rob

Hello Rob,
Welcome to the group. I created it on a whim and check on it occasionally but I have been thinking about trying to get us all more engaged with each other.
Best,
Bryan

My book SHORT RIDE TO HELL will be free on Amazon from 10/3 to 10/5 should anyone like a copyhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N73HGKO
That reminds me, my second Kyle Callahan Mystery, 'Pride and Perilous', is free on Kindle for one more day. I forgot to post that here! http://tinyurl.com/mjwoolc
Hi everyone, I've just published a hardboiled crime thriller, The Breaks, which features a badass female protagonist. My intention was to prove that the loner convention of the genre could be upheld with a gender subversion, something that literary critics have said is not possible. I leave it up to readers decide.Aside from writing I teach fiction writing and publishing at SSU.
If anyone would like a free copy for review that would be my pleasure.
I look forward to meeting everyone and chewing the fat.
Best wishes,
Eden

Hi, I'm Joe Cosentino, author of the Nicky and Noah mystery novels (among other things). Okay, I'll brag a bit. The readers of Divine Magazine voted Drama Queen, the first Nicky and Noah mystery, their favorite LGBT mystery novel of the year. Drama Muscle, book two, received a Rainbow Award Honorable Mention. For more info, check out my web site at http://www.JoeCosentino.weebly.com.
Hello! I'm Austin, an aspiring author, focused on M/M mystery. I'm about 40% done with my first novel, with plans for more. I'm new to this in general, and Goodreads especially, so it's great to find a community. There's no local writer's group that's open to what I want to write, so advice is very welcome.I'm outside San Diego, where I live with my husband of 28 years (wow! how'd that happen?) and two spoiled Basset Hounds.

Hello everybody. I'm one of the 'A's in the alphabet above, and I write exclusively about the 'G's. The reasons for that (a mystery in itself?) are on one of my blogposts at https://polyallsorts.wordpress.com . There's a link to the blog on my Goodreads page - I'm a Goodreads author - but the many photos show as errors there, unfortunately.I hope I'm better at writing than I am at trying to deal with HTML. My first novel, Badge of Loyalty, received mainly good reviews. My second, Polyamory on Trial, is about to be published. I'll discuss the books on another thread. I've been told they are hard to classify: they might lie on the edge of this group's usual content spread.
My name is Jude Tresswell. I live in south east England. My heart is in the north, though, and that's where my stories are set.
Hello and happy new year!I'm primarily a novelist, though I've had some success as a screenwriter and playwright as well.
I write literary thrillers and mysteries set around the world: Africa, Greece, Palestine/Israel, Istanbul (a novel-in-progress), and soon to be released: The Fourth Courier set in Poland. I lived and/or worked in all these places, and I draw on those experiences for my settings and characters. Suffice it to say, I've had a rather intense and exciting life, which is briefly described on my Author page.
Probably the biggest influences on my writing were Graham Greene and John LeCarre, and more recently, Joseph Kanon, Moshe Hamin, Sebastian Faulks, and Robert Goolrick. That's an odd array, I know, but combined they give me strong plots with memorable characters. About one of my earlier books, a reviewer wrote that I did for the thriller what John LeCarre did for the spy novel: elevate the genre to a literary form. I'll take that compliment!
I have two published novels by Owl Canyon Press. For my third novel, I recently signed with Trident Media Group for literary representation, and that book - The Fourth Courier - will be published by Arcade Publishing (an imprint of Skyhorse Publishing, the fastest growing independent publisher in America).
I'm gay, and all my novels have gay protagonists or sidekicks, in such roles as journalists, soldiers, or FBI and CIA agents. My novels are not gay erotica, though they do have love affairs and plenty of sex. As Wunderkind PR remarked, “You write freely about both heterosexual and gay relationships in a way that readers will absolutely love.”
Because I have lived around the world, I try to portray what it's like for gay people in those cultures, and make it a feature of the plot. There's always a plot twist that wouldn't happen - or not in the same way - if the gay factor weren't there.
That's me in brief. I look forward to exploring better than I have before this incredible network called Goodreads.

Welcome Tim from me too. Your books sound really interesting because of your international background and, yes, queer experiences will be very different in different cultures. Those differences were important to the plot of my last story too.
Hey everyone! My name is Nicholas but you guys can call me Nick. Im a transgender male and pansexual. I love acting, drawing, and reading. I would love to make new friends so feel free to send me a friend request or pm me.
Hey all. I'm not entirely sure this group is still active, but I'm constantly questing for more LGBTQ-focused mystery/thriller novels, so I figured I'd check this place out just in case. I'm Beau (any pronouns), I'm queer, and I'm trying to review more books and get more involved this year. We'll see how it goes.
