She almost wished it was her turn this year, and that she didn't have to undergo another year of training before she could compete. She wanted the glory now, not later. Besides, she was already better than the majority of her classmates at, well, everything. Shouldn't she go in, to win her district some glory? The two tributes set to volunteer this year certainly wouldn't do that... The girl was weak. She bet she could take her down easily.
She smirked back, and rolled her eyes at him, jutting her chin up confidently. ((Is there a mentor for 2?))
Lana waited for everyone in the crowds to quiet down and have their eyes on her. Once she had their attention, she started to speak, "Welcome everyone to the 80th annual Hunger Games, though I would love to chat all about it, there's a video for that," she said, trying to put some humour into this.
Adara jutted out her hip, bored already. All she wanted to know was who was going in. She didn't care about all the stuff before that.
After the video finished, she started to speak again, "Now for the moment you've all been dreading for," she went to the glass bowls and picked each at the same time, not wanting to waste time. She read the first one into the microphone, "Adara Johanson and Lysander Payne, our two new tributes for district 2!" She exclaimed, a fake smile plastered on her face.
Dreading? This was what she'd been looking forward to her whole life! With a self satisfied smirk, she headed up to the stage. After, of course, giving the 18 year old girl about to volunteer a harsh stare. It was too bad it was with Lysander... But he could prove to be a value ally, if she could make it through training without killing him.
Lana's smile continued, then dropped when she noticed tension from the two, "Don't kill each other just yet," she said quietly, but enough so only the two could hear her. "Shake hands!" She said, so the whole audience could hear her again
She rolled her eyes, and returned the handshake, with an annoyed glance at the mentor. It was a good thing she'd trained, because as of yet she seemed to be a bit of an airhead.
She went backstage, making sure the tributes followed behind, she then turned around, "Okay, I think it is time for good byes and then the train, remember you could die in that arena, be sincere with your family, it may be the last time you can,"
She stared at both of them, "I guess you two are very similar, even if you'd hate to admit it, but let me tell you, cockiness can make you a target of murder for fun and not necessity, I'll see you two on the trains," the turned around her heels clicking each step she took.
"Yes, of course. The fact that we actually know what to do in the arena won't have any effect on them at all. No, they'll just try and kill us because we're cocky. They won't care that we can actually do the things we say we can do." She rolled her eyes.
"You too, Lysander." She winked at him, then entered the Justice Building. ((Switch to train thread after they meet their families?))
