I haven't gotten very far into the book, but right off the bat I almost feel like it started too far into the storyline, if that makes any sense. I think a prequel would be perfect for this series. I don't know if there is one or if the author plans on writing one, but I think it would give a nice backstory to this main one. I can tell the story is going to be a good one, though.
I do understand what you mean... I think the author does a pretty good job giving you the information you need, but I don't usually need much setting anyway, so it's probably just me lol.
I agree that there isn't given much of a backstory from the beginning, but that was a fact that really drew me in because I didn't only want to know what will happen, but aswell was has happened before. And in my opinion at the end of the book one has quite a good overview about what has happened before.
Even though I would be totally up for a prequel because I think there is much more to tell about the backstory, even if it would contain spoilers for Snow like Ashes, and because Sara Raasch created an amazing world I'd really like to know more about.

I definitely agree with you, Susan! A prequel would be awesome- even a prequel you were meant to read afterwards!! I do think that part of what makes Snow Like Ashes such a great book is the mystery-like component that it has.
Is anyone finished the book and want to talk about it ? I agree with everything you said before, the beginning of the novel was a bit slow for me but the world building is amazing and there's a lot of mystery around the different kingdoms and their magic
I've finished the book! What were your favorite parts? Did you like Meira's character? Were you team Mather? xD
