message 1: by Rin (new)

Rin Haven | 6 comments We are what our hearts have adopted.

Wednesday Marilyn's heart has adopted coldness, and her impending betrothal does little to warm it. An aristocrat raised in a gothic home, between a neglectful mother, and an eccentric father, she's long stopped looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Just when it seems like there is no hope, she meets Zach. He changes everything. Unfortunately for her, she's forgotten something very important.

So important, it threatens to extinguish her new found light for good.

Hi Rin! Saw you said you'd written a book. Is this it, or something you're reading?

Is it available now or still in the works?

It's available now in all formats. And right now it's free as an ebook.

Here's one of my reviews:

Rin Haven style is reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe/Tim Burton. Remember is darkly beautiful, with passages that nail brilliance to the wall for the reader to relish. If I were to critique anything, it would be that it would have made a great full length novel, although as a novella, it's wonderful too. Darkness abounds, and, in this case at least, the darkness is as illuminating as the light. I don't believe in giving away the plot in my reviews, but I strongly suggest you read a few sample pages for yourself, you'll see what I mean. I look forward eagerly to Rin's future works. My utmost respect and congratulations for a job well done.

Thank you for asking, Skye. I'm in the final editing phase. BTW, is anyone else reading Grey Places by Julia Byrd? I've read up to chapter 7 and it's a pretty decent read so far.

message 15: by Skye (new)

Skye | 459 comments I am so glad to hear this, Renee: I am trying to begin writing my own things at the moment.
There was a gothic movie on HBO on Sunday entitled Crimson Peak; however, it had its ups and downs.
I think the Grey Places can only be found on Amazon. I'll check again.

message 16: by Skye (new)

Skye | 459 comments Renee; I can't locate the book on Good Reads. I'm reading several books at the moment.

Grey Places is ebook only. Perhaps that will change. I saw Crimson Peak in the Theater. It wasn't perfect, but over all I enjoyed it and was glad to see this "Gothic" movie come out. Hopefully, that's a sign that there's a renewed interest in our beloved genre.

message 18: by Skye (new)

Skye | 459 comments I realize that now: I hope it will change! You saw Crimson Peak? There were many positives in the movie; she was great in the part and so was he.

message 19: by Abby (new)

Abby Pechin | 19 comments Crimson Peak is my favorite movie of all time. If you have it on BluRay, watch the Extras too. There are a variety of facts about the movie that may go unnoticed. I have watched it so often every time I do my boyfriend says "AGAIN!?" HAHA!!!

message 20: by Skye (new)

Skye | 459 comments Abby; It was on television on Sunday, and I missed so many parts because there were commercials, so I'm hopeful it will air again soon.
