Just discovered Dungeon Crawl Classics while trolling Goodreads for gamebooks and modules. I feel like I've missed out. Looks like this series began in the early 00's, and seems to be in tradition of the classic D&D. Even the great Erol Otus illustrated some of the covers.

Here's a list, I'd be interested to know if any of you have taken a stab at them. I believe they're all D20, just learning about it as I post this...

Side note, it seems Goodman Games has incorporated Castles and Crusades and other titles too

DCC is part of a movement known as the OSR (Old School Revival, or Old School Renaissance), which aims to, as the name would suggest, revive the traditions of old school D&D, but with a modern sensibility. If you're interested in following up on this style of gaming, DCC would certainly be a good place to start, but it'd be worth your while checking out some other examples, notably James Raggi's Lamentations of the Flame Princess.

Sweet thanks Catty, I had no idea. Although I could go back to basic, and 1st edition. These days I've gone d100, but conversion isn't an issue finding players is :)

For starters I may pick up a couple of these on pdf, as they're much more affordable. Although I would love to collect hardcovers, I should probably look into a better printer as I need start making art prints too.

Art prints for games you're designing? Or just art in general? And if you're going for PDFs as a low-cost entry-level option, I recommend you visit RPGnow.com, the PDF arm of DriveTHRURPG, which is another site worth visiting when you're ready to start buying hard copy game books (although tbh, if you're mainly buying them to read currently, you're best off not going to the expense of hard copies, not to mention having to lug them about).

All of the above eventually. Affordable copies for reviewing and my artwork so I'll take that recommendation. I'm always collecting for a good price so I keep an eye on ebay as well. The whole printing hardcovers and artwork thing is something I need to investigate.
