As I mentioned in my intro I am in the 2017 Popsugar reading challenge and reading Etiquette & Espionage for the prompt of a steampunk novel. Now before I started this challenge I did not know what a steampunk novel was. I chose Etiquette & Espionage because, it seemed to be a light and easy read and had a good amount of positive reviews from my Goodreads friends. Has anyone read it? I am currently reading it now so please don't spoil it for me!

I read it a couple of years ago and liked it. I don't remember enough to spoil it :D I haven't read a lot of steampunk either, but it doesn't seem too scary. Carriger provides plenty of humor to the mix.

I read Soulless by Carriger and while I did like the actual story I felt like there were too many distracting factors. So, I love spy stuff and I LOVE victorion era/steampunk -- so why wouldn't I pick up Etiquette&Espionage? I took it out on loan from the library and just.. Meh.. I have decided Carriger isn't for me.
E&E came across as frivolous and I couldn't actually delve into the story, it was too focused on dresses, frills, etc. I get that it is a boarding school but it also let me wanting for so much more... I didn't even finish the book. Rather than develop a strong disliking I just kept it at a "She isn't for me."
I started reading this book a long time ago, but I could not get into it. a reason for that could be that my level of English was not good enough yet (I am not a native speaker), so in the end I ended up not finishing it.
I was thinking about starting this one. The cover looked awesome and the concept was cool. If I do read it, it would only be from the library. There seems to be mixed feelings about it and that is okay but thanks for the honesty!
Yeah it is okay, it is not really my cup of tea per say. The fact that she adds humor in it helps. I will have to let you guys know what I think about it when I finish it! :)
I enjoy the Soulless series, and like the humor and snarkiness. E&E was fun, but the series lost steam, so to speak, as it went on. I prefer Soulless to E&E.You might want to look at the Magnificent Devices series by Shelley Adina for steampunk.
