I was thinking about this few days ago, but couldn't remember the name of it. I still need to see it. Have you watch it yet?

No, was looking for the trailer for Handmaid's tale, and the trailer for The Thinning was the "Skip this ad" that ran before it. (Kind of weird to have the trailer for one movie as the ad before a trailer for another movie!)

I have seen the movie since your last post.

For a low-budget I think it was well made, but the movie had way too many plot holes. I do understand there is a limit of what we can be shown due to the budget and that does not bother me. But we could have been given a better background story (or any background story!) verbally.
It just doesn't make sense. They are thinning the population, but yet we see unaffected communities and compliant parents!

The predictability of it also did not bother me. And I've seen comments on the acting as well - this is another non-issue for me. I have very high tolerance for b-rated movies. I can enjoy a movie that is not much in sense of plot or effects, but in this case I barely finished this one.

It's clearly made from young adults for young adults and the bigger picture is just a background for telling personal stories and for a boy to become a "hero". As a movie attempt from a kid it is probably amazing what was accomplished. And if you have the chance to see it free, go ahead and let me know what you think. Otherwise - save your money!

Major spoiler ahead, read only if you have seen the movie or will not watch it:

Was it made by a kid? I didn't know that. Kinda cool. My young nephew (11) wants to be a filmmaker -- he just finished his first short film, about bullying :)

I have a pretty high tolerance for B movies too -- comes from a lifetime of loving sci fi and horror in the years when pickings were slim :) So I may have to see this. Thanks for the review!

Nope. Looked into it. It seems the comments and even video posted by the actor claiming it is "his movie" are wrong. So, no excuse for the movie quality!

Sorry I just addressed the first question in my previous answer.

Michele wrote: " (11) wants to be a filmmaker -- he just finished his first short film, about bullying :)"

That is quite amazing Is it a school project or is e doing it by himself?

Please let me know what you think if you ever do. My complaint is mostly the plot or lack of. :)
