Mock Newbery 2026 discussion

What an incredible book. It is written with such honesty about people and family relationships and tragedy. The characters are memorable as are the themes and words. This book stands out to me as a possible Newbery award book.

Looks like the current book is The Secret Hum of a Daisy and that she rated it 5 stars....I better put this one on the pile for tomorrow!

I agree. Read this one a few weeks ago and it really stayed with me.

Secret Hum of a Daisy--Grace and her mother never live in the same place for very long, but when her mother dies unexpectedly she is forced to live with a grandmother she's never met. In her grandmother's small town she finds that the townspeople know more about her mother than she does. As Grace works to find out more about her mother and father, she learns that there is always more to a story than you think. A heartfelt story about finding a home, family, friends and coping with loss.
One of my top picks for Newbery 2015.
