The Last Runaway discussion

The book is about a girl that I think is a runaway and in the way she finds a dog or she runs with the dog anyways they live in a cave but she has a radio were she listens to the music, one day I think she is walking with the dog along a bridge and the dog jumps in to the traffic she jumps to so she can safe him but I think she gets killed.
Has anyone read a book about it I can only remember these but I read it around 1990 I have even dreamed about it and can't seam to find it or remember the name... tnx

HI SORRY FOR NOT CHECKING SOONER. WELL I HAVE STILL BEEN LOOKING FOR THE BOOK AND NOTHING.... I REMEMBER SOMETHING ELSE ON THE BOOK THAT I READ A LONG TIME AGO.... IT SAID THAT THE GIRL WAS HAVING THE SAME DREAM OVER AND OVER ABOUT HER TRYING TO CATCH A PLANE BUT ALL OF THE SUDDEN SHE TRIPPED ON PIECES OF HUMAN LIMBS AND THERE WAS LOTS OF BLOOD ON THE FLOOR AND WHEN SHE LOOKED UP THE PLANE HAD LEFT WITH OUT HER IT WAS AN EVERY NIGHT DREAM.
