The Plague Dogs

I know The 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith is a children's book, but it's a very good action/adventure tale. Give the original book a try, if you've only been exposed to the Disney version.

Angela | 628 comments I'm not sure if they all necessarily count as thrillers, but these titles all have canine narrators.

Sirius by Jonathan Crown Sirius by Jonathan Crown

Dog on It (A Chet and Bernie Mystery #1) by Spencer Quinn Dog on It by Spencer Quinn

Rose in a Storm by Jon Katz Rose in a Storm by Jon Katz

the Jewish Dog by Asher Kravitz the Jewish Dog by Asher Kravitz. I know the cover is in Hebrew, but it has been translated into English as well. Amazon gives this as the plot summary:

"Filtering the darkest, most dramatic period of modern Jewish history through the naive, often sage, perspective of a remarkable dog, The Jewish Dog offers readers a view of the Holocaust as never seen before.

This bestselling novel in Israel follows the life and thoughts of Caleb, a contemplative dog unusually fascinated with human affairs. Born into a German-Jewish household in the mid-1930s, Caleb witnesses firsthand the rise of Nazism and the Holocaust. When events separate him from his Jewish owners, he is adopted by a Nazi family and employed by the SS as a military dog.

Deeply ironic and even humorous, The Jewish Dog presents political commentary on humanity and degradation, as Caleb’s philosophical musings explore loyalty, identity, and the fine line that separates humanity from animals."

Chris (chrisg023) | 23 comments One of my favorite books is Roger Zelazny's last novel A Night in the Lonesome October. It's a quirky book with a vaguely Halloween theme, which visits, and waves at many of the classic icons of horror, while still managing to be a light-and-tumble journey.

The main character, who is in fact the narrator, is Snuff, the dog.

Deborah You absolutely cannot go wrong with Chet in the Spencer Quinn novels. They're more detective stories than thrillers, though, but Chet's voice should not be missed.

Pamela Love | 1517 comments I recommend Thor, by Wayne Smith. Here's the best link I can provide, and it does have a spoiler. http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0...

Peter Meilinger | 469 comments Definitely second Dean Koontz's Watchers. Another of his books, Dragon Tears, has at least a couple of sections told from the point of view of a dog who's trying to help keep some innocent people safe.

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5392 comments It's not exactly an action thriller, but Letters From Wolfie is about a dog who goes to war.
