This week's challenge is to write a poem with old fashioned, dramatic language! It can be about any topic, it just has to use archaic language. For example, I might write:

O, to fall for thee
The fullest of all these rewards may be
The sojourn of my lonely heart

Have fun!!

Challenge dates: 04/09/17 to 04/16/17

Beloved

The night sky must yet pale
In compare to your bright beauty
Outshining all the stars
And yet my mighty arm
Cannot keep you by my side
As Ra rides his open chariot
Forth across the wide blue heavens
So you ride away from me
At dawn and return not
Until night’s shores bide you home
Where have I gone
That you so shunned feel led astray
Where can I trim my sorrows
And keep your glory by my side
As flows the Nile
Coursing over its banks
So my love
Never rests, only at times recedes
Can you not see
How all aburst my passions lie
My heart, bared
Scattered across the floor
My dreams like broken pottery
Flail in our anger,
Yet still I cannot hold myself
From loving your glorious beauty
Beloved one, you do not believe
My call to you
Where can I show the love
I possess for you so deeply
This well inside
Seems to overflow in the dark
Caresses of your nightly hand
Oh love futile and fleeting
Will not prevent
My heart from singing
When at last your hand is laid upon mine
And for a brief moment I am yours alone
