Books about: Rock ‘n' roll sci-fi, fantasy, and horror
Thank you! I'm going to expand my list to fantasy and horror, and add Paul is Undead and Shock Rock, Volume I and Volume II.
Diamond StarPlease ignore the cover. Its really horrible while still being accurate. A later book in a series.
Potentially it could, but there may be some areas which could be confusing. Its a good series though.
Thanks, Nente!I have added all of the books recommended, and these that I found myself:
Singer of Souls
You Know They Got A Hell of a Band
The Alpha Box
Digital Vampires
Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light
Children of the Night
Beautiful City of the Dead
Pay the Piper
Rock On: The Greatest Hits of Science Fiction & Fantasy (Can't wait to read this one)
Wonderkid
December
Wicked Game
There seems to be a real genre of rock horror. Maybe it deserves its own list.
Wicked Game is sort of like you want. It's about a radio station that is staffed by vampires. . . . .
Change in plan: there are so many rock horror books that I've decided to give them their own list. Here it is: Rock 'n' Roll Horror
Ragnarok and Roll: Tales of Cassie Zukav, Weirdness Magnet for another suggestion. This is actually a collection of short stories all revolving around the same MC who lives on Key West. Several of the stories are about R&R groups. My fav is where Loki tries to bring about Ragnarok using a rock and roll band.
Sigh, Rosa, Rosa, Rosa. . .
My book budget just got maxed out since it was "That time of the month" (i.e. payday). Now to indulge in a rock n' roll feast. :o)

Some more I've found: John Lennon and the Mercy Street CafeElvissey
Orbital Decay
Echo and Narcissus
Hallowed Circle
Glimpses
Flesh Guitar
and Joplin's Ghost. This isn't about rock, but I think it fits.
Any others that you can think of?
On the horror side: The ScreamHeart-Shaped Box
The Five
Christine
Silk
Mojo Hand
The Vampire Lestat
The Kill Riff
Vampire Junction
Vanitas: Escape from Vampire Junction
Valentine - Return to Vampire Junction
The Armageddon Chord
I've just found a new one (mentioned in another post on a different group) called Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion. Paul is a zombie and turns the rest of The Boys into zombies too. One bit I loved in the description on the back is that there is an 8th level Ninja Lord named Yoko Ono and the greatest zombie hunter in England is Mick Jagger. I haven't actually read it yet (it just arrived in the mail) but thought I'd throw it out there for you.

Thank you, Heather, Mark, and Ann. I already knew about Paul Is Undead; it helped give me this idea.
I'm not sure if there is a supernatural element in the new book The Red Album of Asbury Park. Does anyone know?

Soul Mates, #1
Thank you very much, Wendy! I'm so glad there's more! I can't wait to read Woodstock Magic. And is this the Soul Mates you mean?
Kitty and the Midnight Hour (werewolf radio host in a world with werewolves, vampires and others) Kitty and the Midnight Hour
Rosa wrote: "Thanks, Andy. Is there music involved?"Yes, quite a bit. Each novel in the series starts with a "play list" of songs that have to do with the action of the story, the main character started out as a radio DJ and has a deep interest in music (and she uses "Bad Moon Rising" of course, as the opening theme to her radio talk show).
While not rock n' roll, the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs has a werewolf or three who are all musically inclined. The 2 MC's (husband and wife werewolves) and the male's father. Btw, the father was a bard wwaayyyyy back in Wales. (And when I say way back, I mean way back. at least to 9th century AD, possibly longer than ago than that.) Alpha & Omega is the short story "prequel" to the series, and Cry Wolf is the first book in the series. This series is a spin off of her Mercy Thompson series, btw, and the 2 kind of effect each other.
And the Kitty books are excellent, so I'm going to support Andy in his suggestion of them for you Rosa.

I remembered another book (humourous fantasy) that has a "battle of the bands" between demons and Loki and various other evil Gods of different mythologies (1 per mythology for the 4 members of the "band"). Unicorn U. is the book that this happens in (I'm 90% sure it's this one in the series.) I guess you could read it as a standalone and still understand what's going on.
Rosa wrote: "Also, are there English translations of the mangas you mentioned, or did you read them in Japanese?"Boku wa Beatles has not been published in English yet but you can read a few volumes translated online

I already have:
Rock 'N' Roll Babes From Outer Space
Year Zero
Yeah!
The Worst Band in the Universe
Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede.
I'm not sure whether to expand into horror and fantasy, and add Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion.
Anyway, if you have any rock n' roll/sci-fi books, please suggest them, and feel free to add to the list.
Thanks, all.
