Dawie | 37 comments Hi everyone,

I've got a friend starting out and asking wich would be the best Warhammer fantacy novels to pickup as an introduction to the world, guy says he tried Horus Herecy but didnt like it. He wants to read more about the "old world" rather.

Appreciate any advice

Thanks

Sam (cryewolf) The Gotrek & Felix series might be a good start for Warhammer Fantasy novels.

Hugo Gomez | 22 comments I would say it largely depends on your friend's taste. you have to take a good guess and not worry about reading order. just something that'll hook him. I got my wife interested by throwing Legion on her kindle. It has some romance in it and knew it would appeal to her more than probably Bjorn: Lone Wolf would have. Second book I just put on was Titanicus, same author. A little taste of past and future, with strong female presence in both.

Bambamar | 8 comments Might sound a little sexist but there are probably not many women who like Warhammer 40k. I love it but my wife likes autobiographies or 'fluffier' stuff so congrats on getting your wife to read Legion, let alone like it.

I thought the stereo type of the lonely Warhammer fan was about right myself. Normally Goths (or at least trainees Goths) going by the Gamesworkshop in the middle of Swansea.

Bambamar | 8 comments The Space wolves omnibus to start as they tell you how a space wolf is recruited, the trials and tribulations and the physical changes to become a full space marine.

I know not fantasy but 40k.

Dawie | 37 comments My Fianceé has read Deathwatch by Steve Parker as an introduction to WH but then again she knows a bit about almost everything due to my elongated explanations. I am on Wordpress and know of a woman that put a spacemarine in her wedding bouquet... so there are quite a few

Hawke Embers | 5 comments I'm late to the party? Fantasy? *Crackles fingers*

Black Library are currently releasing a lot of the old Fantasy stories in omnibus format called Warhammer Chronicles.
Good series would be..

Gotrek and Felix! - If you fun and humorous adventures
The Rise of Nagash - If you like compellingly evil charecters
Vampire Wars - If you love quality vampire fiction and violence.
The Sundering - For everything epic in the Elf life.

I would also recommend Neferata Blood of Nagash for a compelling villain protagonist but it is yet to be in the Chronicles line.

Oliver Patrick | 5 comments Your friend if like me, might want to go in chronological order or as close to it as you can. I'm also new to the universe and decided to start from the beginning. I'm about 2 audiobooks (20min each) and 4 primarch books in atm. I believe that starting from the beginning that it will add depth and background to the universe.

The link below will help if he does do what im doing.

But there is also nothing wrong with starting with an army or race that peaks your friends interest.
