J. Geils, age 71. Sad... I know all of our heroes are getting up there – hell, none of us are going the other way – but there are times when this sort of news is like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick (like Bowie, for starters). It was like a local holiday every time J. Geils came to Detroit. They could do absolutely no wrong here and some of those shows back in the mid-70’s were at or near the top of the best shows I’ve ever seen. If you don’t like the J. Geils Band, there is a hole in your soul somewhere in serious need of filling.
May he rest in peace, poor guy. WAY TOO YOUNG…
