Discussion questions:
1. In searching for Tristero Oedipa goes through many adventures/mazes (bars, buildings, San Francisco, under a freeway). Which was your favorite adventure?
2. What do you think of the secret W.A.S.T.E. mail system?
3. How did technology play a part in the book (TV, telephone, radio, etc.)? How does that technology play against the grassroots effort of the W.A.S.T.E. mail system?
4. Pynchon includes a lot of social "outcasts" in this story. How do you think he would portray these outcasts if the book was written today?
5. What were your thoughts about the stamp collector and how the muted horn on the stamp played into the story?
Feel free to add your thoughts on these questions or your own ponderings below.
