Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

really? I kind of liked this one! I like that the heroine is not your typical damsel in distress.

Yeah but I've read a book where the heroine literally shoves her body towards the hero and basically forces him to sleep with her. For some reason, Sarai reminded me of her.

(view spoiler)[This book has a lot more action and violence than I thought it would. This is reading more like a thriller than a contemporary romance. Sarai is a badass for escaping her captor. Victor is a smart and experienced criminal. He reminds me of Liam Neeson in Taken. I'm waiting for the romance. Is this going to be an enemies to lovers between Sarai and Victor? I wouldn't hate it. He's using her as a pawn in his agenda, but I wonder if he actually cares for her. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 1-8

(view spoiler)[So sad what happened to Lydia!!! I see a soft spot developing in Victor for Sarai. This is turning into a tangled mess with who's contracted to kill who. Nicklas is kinda heartless. I think he's going to be a loose end later on. Like Victor will have to pick between Nicklas and Sarai. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 9-15

21% (view spoiler)[ Ugh, is Victor meant to be the love interest? I hate when men only end up being nice to a girl when they become attracted to them. He should just want to help her! It is exciting though, I like the plot and the writing so far. (hide spoiler)]

41% (view spoiler)[ This is very addictive. It was upsetting what happened to Lydia after all that. This Order organisation seems like it will be a problem. Victor is growing on me a little though, so that's good. (hide spoiler)]

62% (view spoiler)[ Can't tell if the scene where he's looking for her tracker is hot or really creepy. I still don't like Niklas, he's so rude. (hide spoiler)]

80% (view spoiler)[ It's kind of calmed down now that nobody's looking for Sarai anymore. It's cool to see her take on Izabel's role though. I can't tell where this is going to go now. (hide spoiler)]
