Nicole D. wrote: "I have not read the last 3 tags. GAH. I didn't even manage a bestseller"Lol, what ARE you reading??? Please join us this month :)
I have a least favorite. Now to decide which of the other 2 I'll throw my meager votes behind. I think I'll go with the one that I'll most enjoy reading the reviews.
Goodness, I'm going to hold off and think about it. Not inspired by any, but it certainly would expand my reading.
I am probably going to do what I've done with the last two tags & find a book on the list which covers multiple challenges I'm attempting this year.
Having gone through the books on each tag, I've chosen the one which has several of my books from other challenges on.
Having gone through the books on each tag, I've chosen the one which has several of my books from other challenges on.
When I select the tags with the randomizer, I always select a 4th and 5th choice in case onenof the first three is a repeat. The 4th choice was star trek.
Ack! Not Star Trek! See what I love about PBT is that none of these would have enthralled me, but I will go through the lists and pick out a book or two for each. That always helps me throw my weight behind something. And I'm sure to find a good read!
This is the first month I've considered not voting. I'd be fine with any of these, but only for specific reasons that might be more fun to not vote and let the group choose.I'd generally be really against dark fantasy- but it would push me to read American Gods which I really want to read but have been avoiding. Or finally finish A Game of Thrones which I failed to read during last years fantasy tag.
For anyone who hasn't read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two yet that would be a good play option. I LOVE theater so I'd be happy if plays was chosen.
Also that 2004 link tag is horrible (just has stuff people READ in 2004- not necessarily published), here's a better link to books actually published in 2004.

Actually I wouldn't mind any of the three but I hope it isn't the year tag. Those are definitely not my favorite, they don't really stretch my reading like a lot of the other tags do.

I won't read dark fantasy unless some book is put there by mistake, so voted for the one I preferred. Not a particularly inspiring list for me--that's the randomizer for you :)!
Interesting tags. I am not fond of the year tags, I looked over the 2004 books. I went through 5 pages and read 90% of the books. Not hoping for that tag. I will be fine with plays - I have a number of collections and am sure I could easily find one to read, and since I will be back home where I have Hamilton-The Revolution (it was too big to schlep to Florida) that would be my top choice.. Also I'm sure I could find dark fantasy on my list of TBR - starting with Sandman Volume 2
Gah. I spent heaps of time looking up 2003 books this morning! The kids distracted me with their scrumptious Easter chocolate!
I would be happy with any of them, although like many others I'm not really keen on year tags, mainly because I think that many people shelve books that way with the intention of grouping books by year read. I know a whole lot of GR friends who do so.I love theater so I chose plays.
No matter the tag, I'll find something. That's what PBT is about!Linda got me thinking of graphic novels with dark fantasy. I bet I have something on my TBR that will fit. I know o have the Angel (Buffy spin off) graphic novels, and those should definitely fit.
Hamilton came out in 2004. It is time. Lol.
And, I cannot believe I am saying this, but I really hope it is plays! I have been wanting to listen to The Tempest read by Ian McKellan and then read Hagseed by Margaret Atwood. This would be the PERFECT tag for it!!

Thanks Joi, for posting a better link. Very helpful!
I searched last night and found plenty for each. In fact, a few make more than one category (Hamilton), and Wicked makes all three. I haven't figured out how to vote. i've never not voted. I sort of have the intuition to go for plays, because my choices were so vast, and its different.

Nicole R wrote: "No matter the tag, I'll find something. That's what PBT is about!..."This is true! I will, as well!
Marina wrote: "I would be happy with any of them, although like many others I'm not really keen on year tags, mainly because I think that many people shelve books that way with the intention of grouping books by ..."But then some people tag a book based on the year they read it, rather than the year it was published, so it's more confusing even. That said, I voted for 2004 as I am not in the mood for plays right now :) . Of course, I might be able to find an audiobook of a play.
Amy wrote: "I haven't figured out how to vote. i've never not voted. ..."Amy ... just click on the link in Anita's original post ... it takes you to the Survey Monkey link.
Pick the tag you want to vote for
Enter the number of votes (from 1 to 10)
Enter you name
and Submit (or whatever it says ... since I already voted I can't go back and look again)
No you misread me! I know I've billed myself as technologically poor if not ancient, (lol), I meant I hadn't figured out which of the three to vote for yet. I certainly know how. I had said I had never not voted for a monthly tag (since joining). The double negative must have say funny on the eye. Voted, for plays, but will be fine with whatever emerges. Folks seem unhappy with the year tags. I guess we will see what happens.

Well, I put all my weight behind the tag I want. I honestly think it has a good chance of winning, but I could be wrong. I usually am with this group, lol.
So, the voting has pretty much stopped, and none of the choices has the majority of votes needed to win, SO if you voted for plays, please take a moment to recast your vote.If you have not cast your vote yet at all, you may still do so, but plays is no longer an option.
Oh no! What do I choose? I don't want to be one of the few deciding votes! Started in the last day or two to research more fully dark fantasy because I assumed it would win. Better go back to my original list and see what's on it for both categories. Does anyone have any influencing advice?
Aha! Now the problem lies in this--do we have more people who prefer dark fantasy (I don't like dark novels of any kind) or 2004 (I know a year tag is an iffy prospect for many)?Bear in mind, oh play voters, that there are probably plays tagged 2004 :),
I voted for my least favorite...but I do have a few books that fit and I'm just tired of the year tags.
I am sorry play don't do better. I think listening to a play and reading a novelization such as Hagseed would have been great.
Maybe the next time plays comes up we listen to what Anita said and throw our weight behind it... maybe these vote tags threads are a good place to suss out how important it may be. I would have thrown more votes to it if it had made a difference to so many. And many of us who cared had the votes to throw.
I have no participation points but Dark Fantasy is a favorite genre for me. There's some great stuff if you know where to look. Not Horror, but not fluffy. Technically LOTR would be Dark Fantasy. Mordor and Sauron's orcs are pretty dark stuff.

Everyone gets to cast one vote even if they do not have any participation points; participation points just let you case more than one vote if you want!
So, feel free to cast that vote for dark fantasy if you want!
