Here it is, the middle of April already. I've had my eye surgery and am seeing much better. (Looking around the house in horror at how much cat hair there is everywhere. But hey, when you have 4 cats . . .)
I thought I'd go ahead and post now so that you'd have a chance to get the books in order. This is the start of the Season where I live (tourists invade by the thousands daily. But when you live at the beach, that happens.) And schools are starting to wind down, so plans must be made for the entertainment of the kids and the keeping sane of ourselves, so having some nice books lined up to fondle is always good, right?
Here are the topics then:
Cinco de Mayo
Mother's day
Armed Forces Day
So, 3 books with either an Hispanic character OR set in an Hispanic country (although I'm going to toss all of South and Central America into that mix, even though there are a couple of Portuguese speaking countries in that area of the world.)
3 books with a Mother in them--the h can be a mother, is about to become a mother or suddenly finds herself a mother because she receives custody of a/many child/ren. Or the mother of either of the 2 MC's is involved--in a good way or bad way. Or they are having to defend a mother. Just so that there is a mother in the story for more than 3 lines. :o)
And finally, 4 books with a military person in them--either the h/H OR the bad guys can be military—this can be active duty, retired or even one that has died. So, if one of them had a father/brother/mother/sister who is now retired or passed away, and they are trying to do something to honour them, that is ok too. Since not too many romances have a “past” hero/ine it is OK if this is a minor part of the story. I’ve been reading news stories lately of grandchildren and even great-grandchildren working to get medals for service in WWII, Korea and even Vietnam for a relative that has passed on. Which, after Alison (Lady Coffin’s) reminder about Memorial Day, came to mind.
Ok, I'm going to admit to a bit of uncertainty about the last topic, so basically, if you can claim that there is someone from the Armed Forces in it, go for it.
