Rachel Caine mini-challenge
Participating in the buddy read of Ash and Quill --> works as the BOM
Q&A with Rache Caine --> 30 points for participation (ONE question per team) DONE
To Be Posted:
Read & Review Corner - Aka read the Book and post a small review on the future thread:
Ink and Bone --> 10 points
Paper and Fire --> 20 points
Ash and Quill --> 30 points.
Review doesn't have to be too detailed, a small one counts as long as it's more than "great book" lol. Since we're cross promoting the author, if you also review the books on goodreads, It would be awesome.
Oh, just a side note, books need to be read from July 1st to count.

Hello Team!
My name is Judith and I am happy to be your captain for Tower Team V. Now that I was able to get on and open the thread hopefully team members will start checking in.
I'm really looking forward to this game as it's one of my favorites. I read a wide variety of genres but do read a lot of fantasy, YA, romance, and historic books.
I can't wait for the game to begin!!

Hello everyone!!! I participated in the last Tower Teams so I was excited when this one was announced!!!I read mainly in the mystery/thriller genre. But I do branch out into some historical fiction and romance occasionally.
Hi Team Palpatine!I have participated in several of the team challenges in this group and usually enjoy them very much. I am excited to start a new round.
I read a variety of things. I enjoy literary fiction, historical fiction, horror, mystery, suspense, thrillers, non-fiction: politics, history and biographies. I am not quick to pick up romance novels, books marketed for the young adult audience or science fiction.
Here's a link to my shelf: 2017 tower team
Hello everyone! I'm really looking forward to this challenge! And I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better and probably having my HUGE to-read list grow even more.I am willing to read pretty much anything, but my favorites are probably fantasy, science fiction, mystery and historical.
Hello all!! I am so excited to be on Team Palpatine! :D Is anyone else here a Star Wars fan?
I've done a couple Tower Teams challenges before and loved them! I'm looking forward for this one to start. Currently my favorite genres are fantasy, historical fiction, YA, and some romance. I also love a good mystery/thriller novel every so often.

Thanks for the shelf link!!
I tried to grab people's tower team shelves if it was obvious which one it was and put all the links in my top post. I probably missed some or maybe you haven't made your shelf yet. If you haven't, please make your shelf so the spreadsheet scripts will work properly.
First order of business:
-Please check my first post.
-If a shelf is linked next to your name, please check to make sure the link is correct. With copy & paste mistakes can and certainly do happen
-If not please let me know which of your bookshelves is for tower teams so I can get the link in place.
Thank you :)

Hi everyone,Checking in. My shelf is tower-team-v: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
As a Challenge junkie, I look forward to this challenge every year. I read mostly romance, but they branch off into literary and historical fiction, crime, mystery, suspense, thrillers. I also read biographies, too.
My tower team shelf is https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...(Sorry, I was looking back to see if we'd had to name the shelf when we signed up - ha - if I did name one I can't remember what it was!)
I'm a challenge junkie too Sunshine! One thing I like about tower teams is the encouragement to read longer books - they get left out in a lot of challenges.

I agree about the longer books. I think I'm still haunted by the short, cozy mysteries, I read for Wobble. Mrs. Fix-it books 1 to 15, anyone?
And my stack of longer reads just never seems to get touched. Until May 4th!!

Hi I'm Mollie. I think this is my third TT but they all run together because I'm a challenge junkie too. I read all sorts of books although my favourites are the long chunkers of general fiction that just seem to examine people's lives. Like Jeffrey Archer books or The Casual Vacancy. I also read a lot of police procedurals and fantasy and sci-fi. Of course, I pretty much read anything if it's needed for a challenge. I try to draw the line at romances though. I just can't stomach the over the top mellow drama that so many of them turn into. Looking forward to getting started and completely put out that we have to wait 2 weeks yet. Oh and yes, my shelf link works.
Hi, I'm May :) I think I'm the only newbie here, having never participated in a challenge like this before, but I'm really excited to have some more motivation this summer to read more, and to read the longer books on my shelf. I mostly read genre fiction, and I have a ton of YA, but I'm open to just about anything, and I really enjoy reading books that are unlike what I've read before.
Also I'm kind of jazzed we get to be Palpatine. ;) We ARE the Senate.

I love having people on the team new to challenges and showing them the 'dark side' (get it?) of reading challenge addictions :)
Welcome aboard and please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi team! So excited for a new team challenge. I feel like this group runs some of the most intense long-running challenges so I always look forward to them. I think I've done a couple of wheel-a-thons, the gladiator one, the last tower teams and then of course WOBBLE which was a unique experience and I still miss it too.As for what I read, I have a hard time narrowing it down. I feel like anything that I hear about that appeals to me I will pick up, although I'm more hesitant to pick up epic fantasy, paranormal romance or westerns, but I still have read and loved some books in those genres.
I've seen the original Star Wars movies but it's been over a decade, and haven't followed anything since. I had to ask my boyfriend who Palpatine was, but I'm just glad it's something easy to spell (in my wobble team I had to think before typing out Brahminy most of the time, lol)
Hello Everyone! This is my first reading challenge. I recently just started actively reading again. I am not exactly sure the how the challenges work (who decides the books, etc. ) so I may have to ask a few questions from time to time. I am really looking forward to the challenge and interacting with you all!!

You may read what ever your little heart desires! As long as it meets the general requirements (at least 100 pages, not a graphic novel, if a children's book at least 25,000 words, etc) it's fair game for Tower Teams.

And welcome again to everyone who has checked in so far. Only waiting on 2 more before having a complete team!
Not bad considering I only unlocked the thread this morning :)

I'm so glad we have such a good mix of people new to challenges and veterans! And SO glad everyone is checking in - yay!Amy - I'm definitely a Star Wars fan - it's one of those things like Disney that I'm compelled to love almost irrationally - it is just too mixed up with positive childhood memories I think. I like challenges anyway, but I was excited to see the theme of his one. And I think it is cool that they are going the direction of just having us read to our little hearts' content.

I hear you! I feel the same way about childhood memories. I was always watching/reading whatever my brothers were interested in when I was growing up since I wanted to be just like them. Now it's just a true love of everything sci-fi, fantasy, magical, etc. :)
Hello Team!I love Star Wars. I saw the first movie at the theater when I was 7 ! Christmas 2015, I got all the movies on Blu-Ray and watched them with my daughter, then we saw The Force Awakens. She is a fan too, but I am sad to say we haven't seen Rogue One yet.
I also love reading! I will read just about any genre, but my favorites are Historical Fiction and Fantasy. My least favorite is Contemporary Romance, but I do enjoy Historical Romance.
I have been doing challenges on GR since about 2009. Sometimes I take on too much, but it's fun!
Here is my shelf: Tower Teams V
Amy wrote: "Is anyone else here a Star Wars fan?"Star Wars was certainly a part of my childhood. I have tried to keep up with the new movies, but have not been completely successful. May use this challenge as motivation to catch up. :)
Judith wrote: "Thanks for the shelf link!!I tried to grab people's tower team shelves if it was obvious which one it was and put all the links in my top post. I probably missed some or maybe you haven't made your shelf yet."
I am guilty of not having created my shelf until posting my introduction post. It looks like it's pasted correctly into the master list.
Team Palpatine I ready for take off! This will be my first Tower challenge and I'm looking forward to it. I really enjoy reading especially books I would not normally read. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
It's official, we have complete team check in!! Yay :)
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and having my to-read list expand because of you guys and the interesting books I'm sure you'll be reading
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and having my to-read list expand because of you guys and the interesting books I'm sure you'll be reading
Yay!! Is it May 4th yet?! I can't wait to start the challenge with you all!! :) I'm looking forward to getting some new to-read ideas from everyone, too!!
I'm looking forward to it too - many of my favorite books have been found via recommendations from people on Goodreads!
So I guess one of the ways to get extra team points is to participate in the group book of the month discussions and/or write daily questions. I volunteered to do daily questions for The Circle and A Gentleman in Moscow - but if any of you is also willing to do them, just go volunteer in the threads - they will only take one person from each team, but it is very possible that there will be more teams volunteering than spots, so anyway - it puts another ticket in the pot or something :) I can't volunteer for Strange the Dreamer since I read it this month.
Anyway - if any of the book of the month books appeal to you, the discussions can be fun and it's an easy way to earn extra points.
I'm on a wait list for all three of next month's BOMs, so I'm hoping to get them in time! I probably won't volunteer for questions in case I don't get them, but I'll definitely be participating! :)
Oh good! They all look like good discussion books! I'm glad they let us read them within a month of the discussions - then if life happens or wait lists are slow, we can still participate and get points.
Suzanne wrote: "So I guess one of the ways to get extra team points is to participate in the group book of the month discussions and/or write daily questions. I'm pretty sure we keep track, but it'll be easy. I know last time we just did something when we reported out book like "participated in discussion (link to one of the posts)" or "wrote questions (link to post)" Judith may have a great idea for reporting, but yeah I'm sure it'll be easy. And it's 20 points for participating, which is cool! (40 points for doing a day of discussion questions.) To participate, you can answer questions, or you can just post in the thread with what you are thinking about the book.
Of course, if it's not a book you want to read - no guilt because reading should be fun! But if it looks interesting, then it's a nice way to get points.
Has anyone read The Others series by Anne Bishop?I read the first one
a little while ago and now I'm reading
. I'm seriously loving these books so much. And I didn't even think I would like them, because I read Anne Bishop's earlier series and really disliked it! The reviews were just too good for this series though so I had to give it a try and I sure am glad I did.
