Whohoo! Hey Cecily! Hi team! I can't wait to get started. I've been loading books on my Kindle all morning even though we're not starting the challenge for a few more weeks.
Welcome Team!! I would like to take this time as we wait for May 4th, for us to get to know one another a little better! Here is a few things I would love for us to share.
Name? age? where do you reside? Family(furry friends count!, Pics?) favourite genre of reading?
favourite genre for watching (movies/tv)? have you participated in any other group challenges in the past? If you could recommend one book to anyone what book would it be? If you could recommend one movie or one show what would it be?
Feel free to add anything else you might want us to know about you!!
Name: Cecily Kyle
Age: 27
Residence: Edmonton, Alberta Canada
Family: Husband: Jeff, Fur-baby: Sookie (little black kitty)
Favorite Genre: This is a tough one to narrow down but... Romance I guess... haha I keep going through like 5 different ones in my head.... so for the sake of sharing, Mystery, YA, Erotica, Dystopian Sci-Fi... I just love getting lost in different types of stories.
Television I am guilty of loving Reality Television like Big Brother and Crime shows like Law & Order SVU and Criminal Minds..oh and OF COURSE - The Walking Dead. I am as big of a tv nerd as a book nerd but I am really behind on my shows right now because I have been reading so much lately... except for those shows mentioned. haha.
Group Challenges: My First group challenge was Wobble!! I fell in love with the whole dynamic. I will admit after wobble was done I took a reading hiatus for a couple of months and then I jumped back in. I am currently participating in UNO, The Amazing Race, and Supernatural Monopoly. I used to only do individual challenges but I have completely changed that and have only done groups since I have been back :)
Book Recommendation: I fell in love with Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky last year!! I would recommend it to anyone!!
Movie/show recommendation: I watch way too many movies to recommend just one pretty much the same with television as well but I love the show MOM with Anna Farris, it's hilarious but deals with some serious issues as well! Me and my husband LOVE it!
I hope this gives you all a little inside on me and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Haha! I love the name of your little kitty! :)
To be honest, I am so far behind on The Walking Dead right now. We haven't seen any episodes beyond the third or so episode of the latest season. The season premiere was just so difficult to watch! :)
I'm glad you loved Wobble! It was too much for a lot of people, myself included. I was burned out on challenges and reading after Wobble was over. :D
Name: AmandaAge: 29
Residence: Grass Valley, California
Family: Husband-Luis, My mom, Margaret, is another member of this team, dad, sister, 2 nephews and 1 niece
And here is my dog, Alonzo:
(view spoiler)
Favorite Genre: Fantasy, romance, historical fiction...pretty much everything. I just love to read! :)
Television: Fargo, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead (though I'm not caught up in the series), Supernatural, Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons.
Group Challenges: I have joined so many team challenges that I lost count. They have all been NBRC challenges, though. :)
Book Recommendation: Oh boy, this is a hard one! I'm going to cheat and throw out a bunch.
I recently started working at an animal shelter, which means I get to spend my days taking care of animals and finding them good homes. Sometimes the dogs and cats are there for months and you develop a great relationship with them. I wish I could take them all home!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

My Granddog Alonzo!!! I am so proud of that furface! he has come a long ways. Oh I can't wait to post my intro....hopefully I will take the time tomorrow. Today was multi-tasking big time, the day was literally whisked away.
Hi everyone! I'm so thrilled to start this and be in the team with you all. I've been waiting all since the last Tower Team and I feel this will boost up my reading even more.
Name: Emelie
Age: 28
Residence: Stockholm, Sweden, Europe.
Family: Mother, father, younger brother, a tank of fish. Thinking of adding to my little family some frogs and/or a spider in the near future. Recently, I've just got so hooked on the reptile/amphibian/spider/fish thing, which is good for me, since I'm allergic to fur animals. So I'm glad that I at least am interested in the only kind of animals I can actually have.
Favorite Genre: I give most anything a try, really, so long as it sounds good. This have made me read books I never thought, such as in the splatter genre, which I found to be an okay read. My the genre I most like is fantasy, sci-fi of any kind, historical, dystopian, literary fiction, non-fiction in space, history, science, tech, biography. So... yeah. I think my least favourite would be romance, if it's soppy and unrealistic and too sugary and fluffy - but then I identify as asexual and aromantic (feeling no attraction/want/need for sex and romance), so maybe I just don't get that kind of genre. Though, a good, well written, mature, rounded romance can go down.
Television: I too am a TV-nerd as well! Homeland, Parc and Rec, 30 Rock, Z nation, Orange is the new Black, crime shows of any kind, Amazing Race, Great British Bake Off, Bones (my hero is Dr Brennan), and countless more that just don't pop into my head at the moment.
Group Challenges: I usually don't work well with challenges since I find it pretty hard to have to read a designated book. I want the freedom do choose just what I want, when I want. That's why I love Tower Team. I participated in it last year, and have been waiting ever since for a new round. Haven't done any other challenge.
Book Recommendation: Oh boy... This is always so difficult. Harry Potter books (yeas, a major Potterhead here), TThe Diary of a Young Girl, Howl's Moving Castle, A Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones), Norwegian Wood, Odinsbarn is but a few amongst many many brilliant books.
Movie/show recommendation: Oh, difficult this one as well. Platoon, Titanic, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Zootopia, The Perks of being a Wallflower, Das Boot, is what came to mind, but so many more.
Hi all,I am looking forwards to starting this challenge, and hopefully getting some books shifted of my never ending to be read list!
Name: Jade
Age: 36
Reside: Lancaster, Lancashire, UK
Family: It is just me, my hubby and our fur babies, Kat and Pablo
Favourite Genre: It would have to be romance, either contemporary, erotica, paranormal or historical. I adore bikers and highlanders ;) I won't lie.... I am trying to broaden my horizons and read books slightly out of my comfort zone, but I hate getting to the end of a book and feeling like I have wasted hours of my life if I don't enjoy it.
Favourite movie/tv genre: I will watch almost anything to be honest, I have recently been watching Lucifer on Amazon this tv series is hillarious. you should check it out if you haven't already. I am a True Blood fan, Cecily I love the name of your cat ;)
I also love a good Rom-Com, I am a sucker for a love story! I also like true crime films but strangely not books all that much?!
Have you participated in any other group challenges in the past? I am a challenge addict, I am a member of several groups on GR and participate in monthly, quarterly and annual challenges.
If you could recommend one book to anyone what book would it be? Recently I read Me before You by Jojo Moyes it totally broke me, I was an emotional wreck. I bought both my friend and my Mum a copy of the book because it was so good, they both lovely it.
If you could recommend one movie or one show what would it be? again I would have to repeat myself and say Lucifer the show is absolutely awesome, I can't wait for the new series to start. And for a film, you can't beat the classics it would have to be Pride and Prejudice or Legend with Tom Hardy.
Hi all,Glad to meet you all. It was fun reading. Here's something about me:
Name: Dragana
Age: 36
Reside: Kragujevac, Serbia, Europe
Family: Husband (Željko) and 3-year old son (Nikola). No pets (yet).
Favourite Genre: It would be easier to list genres that I do not like then those that I enjoy. :D But let's say Speculative Fiction. :)
Favourite movie/tv genre: Again, I will watch (or try to watch) almost anything. If the series is fantasy/sf/paranormal I definitely watched it from popular ones like (GOT, True Blood, Battlestar Galactica) to new ones (loved Lucifer). I also like comedies and crime movies/tv shows.
Have you participated in any other group challenges in the past? Yes. My memory is bad so I can't say which one was the first but I have been in: Wobble, Tower Teams, Bingo, Uno, ...)
If you could recommend one book to anyone what book would it be? This is really hard question since I read a lot of genres. My recommendation would depend on the favorite genre of the person I am recommending book to. But here are some:
...If you could recommend one movie or one show what would it be? I think I would go with one of the classics, movies that I could watch million times. Like: The Shawshank Redemption, The Terminal, Life Is Beautiful, ...
Hi, Everyone! :)Name: Veronica (but I go by Vivi here)
Age: 28
Residence: Terceira Island (yes I live on a little island in the middle of nowhere *insert pouty face*) - Azores, Portugal, Europe.
Family: My mum, Fur-baby: I had a 1 year-old black and white kitten named Olivia... Full "Sad-reality-of-life" story next: (view spoiler)
Favorite Genre: Romance! I'm a sucker for romance of all kinds! (LGBT, Forbidden love, sweet romance, Love-hate relationships, second-chance romance...)
Television: Confession: I don't really watch TV. But I do follow some series in the internet: The Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf are some of those.
Group Challenges: I have participated in some Group challenges, but not in this group. It's my first time in Tower Teams Challenge ... but I love sharing opinions on books :)
Book Recommendation: I have Lots! But right now, at this moment, I'll just say:
(my review, if you wanna see it)Guys, This book! It was my FAVORITE READ of 2016 (the Favorite out of 60 books) and it's such a Beautiful, Heartfelt book! If you can, DO CHECK IT OUT! I SO Love this book and it's characters to pieces!<3
Movie/show recommendation: Movies that makes us feel something... like Patch Adams. Series, I don't know... I liked Once Upon a time and Roswell quite a bit. Thirteen Reasons Why seems to be a great, deep series (I have yet to watch it!) ... I have read the book in 2014 (I think), but It didn't live up to my expectations!
Some More things I can say about myself... I'm Portuguese (you've read that, already, above) but I basically only read in English! Still, I might (and probably will) make some mistakes when writing or commenting. Sorry for that :)
I love romance, but I also read some other genres - YA, NA, Fantasy, Paranormal... my least favorite genres are Historical Romance and Horror.
I read Manga/comics (and watch Anime); I have no problem with (and usually read a lot of) Gay Romance books.
I am a very slow reader :( ... I, mostly, read a book, a week. I don't have as much time as I would like to read... I really like to create and name shelves on Goodreads (I love my shelves!<3) and I Love to write Reviews (especially if I Loved the book!).
That's pretty much it... Let's have FUN in this Challenge, Everyone :D["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Hey team!!Name: Michelle
Age: 47
Where I reside: Georgia, USA
Family: My husband of 27 years, Olin; 3 sons: Ben, Dylan, and Austin (they are 26, 24, and 22); Piper and Great Dane; Spencer the Chihuahua; and Clint and Ingo, the cats!
Favorite Genre of Reading: I love historical fiction (including historical romance), a good thriller/suspense novel, mysteries, literary fiction, and even many non-fiction books. I also love to read series books!
Past Group Challenges: I have completed in many. In fact I'm doing a few others right now like Uno, Racing to 500 Members, Disney Shuffleboard, Spelling Bee...maybe another one or two. I also did TTIV last year. And who can forget WOBBLE?!? As for personal challenges, I do more that I can count!
If you could recommend one book to anyone what book would it be? This is always a tough question to answer for me! I love the Outlander series, When Breath Becomes Air, The Handmade's Tail, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks...the list could go on and on.
If you could recommend one movie or one show what would it be? I haven't kept up with that many new movies - I would rather just read the book. A few older movies that I loved were A Walk in the Clouds, The Last of the Mohicans, 7 Pounds, and Platoon. For TV shows I love The Walking Dead and Stranger Things is pretty good, too.
Other Stuff: I married my high school sweetheart! I'm a former middle school math and science teacher turned into a happy housewife. My hubby takes great care of me. I read about a book a day. I'm looking forward to TTV with you all!!
Name: JasminAge: 41 (but turning 42 in ten days)
Residence: Small town near Cologne, Germany
Family: My husband, my dad (my mom died of breast cancer 3 years ago), and I have a brother somewhere (the black sheep of the family), I also have two cats: Chaos & Entropy (both black)
Favorite Genre: Fantasy, Horror and Mysteries,
Television: Ah, German television, it really is better to avoid it. But I'm a fan of Person of Interest, Doctor Who, Sherlock and Lucifer
Group Challenges: I was part of the madness that was Wobble. In the moment I also do Amazing Race, Stat Wars Trivial Pursuit and the Oregon Trail. I also do a lot of single challenges and participate for some years in the Seasonal Reading Challenge (and even managed to finish it one time...).
Book Recommendation: Always difficult, as there are so many great books out there. Last years favourites have been:
I simply love this series
The last book of the trilogy is published next month and highly anticipated by me
This really pulled me inThis year my favourite reads were:
Love that ending
Book two is already waiting on my KindleMovie/show recommendation: I'm a great fan of the Marvel Movie Universe, but also like horror films like Constantine. Watching these can never be a mistake. But mostly I watch tv shows and in the moment I try to watch all seasons of Game of Thornes again for the new season coming in June, and also started Doctor Who again from the beginning. So I would recommend that, as both are great fun. Also Person of Interest was a great tv show (with some really spooky real life parallels) in regards to digital monitoring.
I hope we will have a lot of fun together and read tons of good books.
It's really great to read these and get to know everyone better! We are from literally all over the world! I love it! Thank you everyone that has shared so far and I look forward to reading more :)
Hi guys. I believe I was on past teams with Cecily, and Amanda and her mom. Nice seeing familiar people. Cecily is a reading monster ;))Maritza
Brooklyn NY
Parents, brother, niece, fiance and sister of the heart. No kiddos.
So far I'm the oldest person reporting in.
Will read pretty much anything especially for team challenges.
I love team challenges. Currently doing Star Wars and signed up for Disney Shuffle board. Individually doing Monthly Word Hunt and Finish this sentence.......
Recently read and watched Me Before You and Craving.
Reality show junkie ---- Amazing Race, Designated Survivor, The Middle, DWTS and Girls. Just started Orange is the New Black. Have never seen TWD.
Hi team!I'm Sunshine. I live in VT with my Hubby and our two dogs, Lucy & Porter.
I pretty much read just Urban Fantasy/Paranormal, though I do dabble in some Horror, Fantasy, Erotica, Mystery....
TV we usually watch is along the lines of Criminal Minds, CSI. We don't have movie channels, but when we did we loved Shameless! A new favorite channel is Vice. They have some very interesting shows. As far as reality shows go, Hubby loves The Ultimate Fighter while I go for The Amazing Race. ☺
I sign up for bajillions of challenges even though I never finish them on time. ☺ I have a couple spreadsheets that I keep track of them all on. Lol! I've never played this team challenge before so excited to play!
Hi everyone! I'm jealous of all those furry and not-so furry pets! Name: Jodie
Age: 26
Residence: Kingston, Jamaica
Family: Currently living on my own, but I'm often hanging around my sister's place with her two kids. My furry best friend died about 7 months ago and I miss her a lot. Thinking of maybe getting a turtle as my next companion.
Favourite genre: I read a bit of everything except Erotica.
Television: When I do get on the telly I'm watching Law and Order or CSI. Kitchen Nightmares is also a good bet.
Group Challenges: I participated in Tower Teams last year as well.
Book Recommendations:
Ken Follett is one of my auto-buy authors and this book was the first I read by him and it remains one of my favourites.
I discovered Frances Hardinge last year and fell in love with her writing. Closest I've come to feeling that Harry Potter magic when reading. Movie/Show rec: Peaky Blinders!!!! That show needs to be more popular honestly.
Name: MargaretAge: 57....I am the oldest here, so far but hey don't let my age fool you, I feel young! (most of the time!)
Where I reside: Camptonville, California (in the Gold Country)
Family: My husband of 31 years, have two daughters Amanda 29 and Rachel 34, three grandchildren 2, 4 and 8 years old. I have two cats Poe and Molly who Amanda helped me raise from the time they were orphaned at two weeks old, I couldn't have done it without her.
Favorite Genre of Reading: I would say that historical fiction is top on my list followed by Christian non-fiction and fiction as long as it has depth, biography is something that I enjoy. I love reading about cultures and non-fiction as long as it is interesting and not dry. Believe me, this is a small sample of what I love to read. Romance is not my exactly my cup of tea unless it has a good message, lessons learned and definitely not mushy, can't stand those and of course not explicit, okay, about covered that!
Past Group Challenges: I have participated in many challenges so I have lost count. I love the challenge of reading varied genres and I like being pushed out of my comfort zone.
If you could recommend one book to anyone what book would it be? One!!!??? No! I would have to recommend more than one, I think that
just to mention a few.If you could recommend one movie or one show what would it be? I enjoy watching The Colony, The Feud, Fargo, The Walking Dead, This is Us, The Crown, Victoria....just to name several. One movie I recommend that we just watched this year was Fences with Denzel Washington.
Other Stuff: I am an artist working mainly in watercolor right now though I started out with soft pastels. I love painting landscapes the most though I do love painting portraits. I adore the outdoors, and I am also an animal lover. I enjoy so many activities it is hard to list them all, a short list: hiking, photography, travelling, and of course more art!
Hi everyone!Name: Heli
Age: 49
Residence: Western Finland
Family: Husband of 20 years and two sons 19 and 17. No pets.
Favorite genre: Thrillers, dystopian, time travel, literary fiction, ya mostly. Sometimes sci-fi, fantasy, chic lit and romance.
TV: I rarely watch movies anymore. I like old movies like Gone With The Wind and Marnie. I also love Forrest Gump, The Pianist and The Matrix. My favourite tv shows are The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, Homeland, Doctor Who, Modern Family and Friends. Oh, I almost forgot to mention The Biggest Loser ;)
Group Challenges: Wobble was my first group challenge. This will be my second group challenge.
Book recommendation: I absolutely loved My Sister's Keeper, Rebecca, Still Alice and A Monster Calls. And I'm looking forward to hearing book recommendations from you!
I work three shifts in a group home for mentally disabled. I would love to be able to say that in my spare time I'm active and work out, but I mostly just end up reading books.
Yay! It is amazing to meet all of you! I hope we can be a chatty group so feel free to share any thoughts or book recommendations etc... We have all checked in so I am going to let the Mods know we are ready!!
I added the rules/point system to a reserved spot. I also added a link to everyone's shelves. Maritza and Margaret I sent you a message about yours, the rest of the group could you click your links and see if they go to the correct shelf. If not, please let me know so I can fix it! Some of you have some pretty in depth shelving practices ;) lol
Cecily wrote: "I added the rules/point system to a reserved spot. I also added a link to everyone's shelves. Maritza and Margaret I sent you a message about yours, the rest of the group could you click your links..."Done!
Okay I'll start something.....which books are you reading right now and finishing up before the challenge begins....also do any of you have strategies for challenges? I am currently reading:
and I have another book that I have been taking forever with:
I hope to finish it at some point. It doesn't grab my attention because of the endless detail, if it had more info about his life and character, it might be a winner. My main strategy for challenges is to read shorter books and I mean under 400 pages. Also not to commit to a genre that I detest.
Cecily: That shelf is my old tower challenge shelf. The one I will be using this time can be found here . --
As for strategy, my plan right now is just to read what I want and not take too much account into how quick/slow the read will be and if it doesn't grab me, to stop reading and pick up a new one.
Right now I'm listening to Crime and Punishment. I can't decide if I like it or not. Had I not listened to it, I would put it away, but the audio format make me more able to enjoy it. On the other hand I find it really lengthy in a boring, unnecessary way as it's so wordy and dialogue heavy. I usually don't have problems reading long books, but this, well it's a special style, for sure. On the other hand the details and depth and the burrowing into the characters thinking and actions etc is what makes the book interesting, as well, so yeah, mixed feelings.
I also just started to read Killing Floor which I hope will be a rather quick, intense, interesting read.
Emelie wrote: "Cecily: That shelf is my old tower challenge shelf. The one I will be using this time can be found here . --

I can't wait to hear what you think of Killing Floor, I have wondered if I would like the Reacher series or not. I totally understand what you mean about C & P because it can get tedious. If it weren't for listening to it on audio, I might have thrown in the towel! I have re-read it and it does get easier :)
I just finished
. I probably should've saved those 1400+ pages for TTV. Oh well, there's still a few more in the series to read.I'm currently reading
.
and
are up next.My strategy is just to keep reading about a book every day or two. Then when a task comes up that needs to be completed, I always jump on board and find a book for it as best as I can.
I'm so ready to get started!
Cecily wrote: "I added the rules/point system to a reserved spot. I also added a link to everyone's shelves. Maritza and Margaret I sent you a message about yours, the rest of the group could you click your links..."My link is correct. :)
Hi guys, The link to my shelf is correct.
About strategy, I don't really have any... I usually pick beforehand some books I'd like to read in the next month, but I read very few books a month (4 or 5), and I do review my reads.
I'm currently reading Under the Never Sky. I'm at the middle of it and I not enjoying it much :(
I hope to enjoy my next readings more and that we have lots of fun together in this Challenge :)
Emelie wrote: "Cecily: That shelf is my old tower challenge shelf. The one I will be using this time can be found here . --

Crime and Punishment was mandatory read in my high school. It can be boring at times. Definitely not my favorite book by Dostojevski. Have you read The Idiot? It's my favorite book by him. It made me cry a couple of times and I am a tough nut to break.
My strategy for the challenge is to try and clear some chunsters from my tbr. I think that books by 900+ pages bring most points per page.I am currently reading Dark Places. I loved Gone Girl but Dark Places didn't catch my interest like Gone Girl. Less suspense...
Emelie wrote: "Cecily: That shelf is my old tower challenge shelf. The one I will be using this time can be found here . --

updated!! Thank you Emelie!!
I haven't done Towers before so I am unsure of how Towers really works, I have a few chunksters I wanna read so I will definitely be reading some of those but I always have so many I want to read, I think I might see what I can find of all these recommendations and use this time to read them so I can share my thoughts with you!!
Right now I'm finishing up
, which I've really been enjoying. I disagree with the YA label, though. Some of the themes are very mature.
Cecily wrote: "I haven't done Towers before so I am unsure of how Towers really works, I have a few chunksters I wanna read so I will definitely be reading some of those but I always have so many I want to read, ..."You are going to be a great asset, Cecily, with the way you fly through your books. :)
Amanda wrote: "Right now I'm finishing up

Oh, do I love me some books that hit you like that. No, I haven't read it but it's on my to read/ to listen so I will, eventually! You made me more interested in it now.
--
Cecily: Wow, first time playing and you bravely take on the role as captain!
Currently reading
. I love the whole Cotton series. My strategy is to read books from my Kindle. I probably won't be reading big clunkers as I haven't been reading as much as before. But hope to contribute as much as I can. As I said I don't mind reading genres I don't necessarily like. Especially for team challenges. Also reading
for Star Wars challenge.

Yeah I played WOBBLE and that was a beast and I applied then, but didn't get it. I got a little more experience and applied again and got it this time! I am a total nerd for lists and spreadsheets and planning that sort of stuff so I am looking forward to it. I am a little nervous, not going to lie, but I got Amanda who has done a ton of these sorts of things, and you all seem like a great bunch so I feel like we will work great together as a team!
I'm feeling this will be a really "chatty" team... and I like it! :)And Cecily, you'll do great and we'll help out too, if needed be.
Hi all, my link is working fine.I am currently reading -
and listening to
I don't really have a strategy for reading I am in so many challenges I may sometimes read a book that falls into a certain category or I just read something I fancy.
Looking forwards to getting started :)
Good Morning Team! Another prompt.....What was the most significant event or reason that motivated you to be the reader that you are now?For me, it was the fact that my mother was a reading junkie. She and I made at least 2-3 trips to our local library each week. I got my first library card at the age of 6 or 7 years old, not sure but I do know that I was reading at first grade level when I got my first card. I have loved to read since then, it was my favorite way to relax and to escape into another world. Eventually we had to move onto another library because my mother exhausted her choices at that library. Now what about your story.....I want to hear about it!
Mine would be my Mum too, I remember when I was little she would take me to the library and let me sit for hours reading and searching the shelves. By the age of 6 or 7 she has introduced me to audio books and I totally fell in love. I have always been able to find magic in books and the library. She will tell stories of me even now being dragged out of the library kicking and screaming at the tender age of 4!
