Join Maddison and I as we read Under the Dome, starting today.

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when -- or if -- it will go away.
Dale Barbara, Iraq vet and now a short-order cook, finds himself teamed with a few intrepid citizens -- town newspaper owner Julia Shumway, a physician's assistant at the hospital, a select-woman, and three brave kids. Against them stands Big Jim Rennie, a politician who will stop at nothing -- even murder -- to hold the reins of power, and his son, who is keeping a horrible secret in a dark pantry. But their main adversary is the Dome itself. Because time isn't just short. It's running out.

Alrighty. :D You can post your thoughts and I'll reply to them as I reach the specific point. And I'll read a chapter a day, not a section of a chapter.

At the end of the book, are you counting just the chapters as chapters, or shall I count each sub-chapter as a chapter too? XD

I would just count the regular chapters. Counting the subchapters would get so crazy because sometimes there's eight to thirteen of them in a chapter.

Yeah haha. But then it gets annoying because the chapters don't have numbers. XD

Would you mind if I joined you guys? I have the book but have never had the time to read it. Do y'all have like a schedule or anything?

Hello! Is this going to start on october? Is there people interested still? Because I'm interested in participating in this buddy read!

Yeah, me and Irene are still going to read this! We'll be taking our time though. This book is huge!! You are more than welcome to join us. :)

Oh ok! Let me now anything I need to know. You guys will be starting on October 1st?

So how should we do this? Looks like the book contains 26 parts, and each part is 6-10 chapters or so (if I remember correctly). Should we just set a certain amount of chapters or parts to read each week or what are you thinking? :D

Let me find the book and take a look, I'm not sure about the length of the chapters :D

For anyone wondering, we are starting on the 10th of October now instead of the 1st.

I just finished 'Junior and Angie' That was super brutal! It's extremely different to the tv show at the moment (view spoiler)[ Angie is very much alive but I'm pretty sure she is dead in the book now. She could come back to life though somehow. (hide spoiler)] Junior is a massive asshole!! I am enjoying it so far but it is slightly daunting! Only 800 pages to go! Haha.

I just read about your spoiler and I agree, it's different. Super actionpacked. I really like it!
Btw, I've only seen season 1 of the show :)

I'm about to start Clustermug

I like the descriptions, it really gives you a good feel of the town. There is alot going on, sooo many different characters to keep track of. Although, alot of the small parts were in pov of people who are now dead.

Oh okay, I won't talk about season two at all then! :)

How far into the book are you? I'm way behind so I'll catch up tomorrow:-)

The book is just so big! I read the most at work but I can't take that hefty thing anywhere! I'll let you know the part I'm on when I get home :)

Do you find the book hard to read as well?

Sort of, I was getting annoyed that they didn't realise it's a dome too and Stephen King goes on for too long about a load of rubbish.. Like talking about different ways out of chesters mill, people's unnecessary back stories and I feel like not much has gone on even though alot has. If that makes any sense? I'm going to sit down and try to get to the 200 pages Mark now.

I can follow that thought! And there seems to be a lot of description as well. I think I'll aim to read the Madness, Blindnes(...) part today :)

I like description but I want to invest in character, I'm just bored of everyone at the moment! I did like Junior's parts though (view spoiler)[ what a sicko! (hide spoiler)] sad to say that's all that's been interesting. Waiting for it to get creepy!

I agree about Junior! Also, I think it's pretty creepy in the creepy parts, you know? He's really good at describing (view spoiler)[how the blood is dripping etc. (hide spoiler)] Haha :D

I'm in the middle of This is not as bad as it gets

It is starting to get creepy! (view spoiler)[ Wow, the description of his eyeballs falling out of his head was wow and ew! They were saying this guy is smart and then he goes and shoots the dome? What a idiot. (hide spoiler)]

There is more Halloween related screaming... not sure what it means yet though. I don't know if you've read this part but Jannie's dad is saying it's just a type of seizure when it obviously isn't... more like voo doo!

It is getting better! It has taken me like 2 hours to read 50 pages though which is insane.
