She had been a few paces behind, obviously mentally cramming for the DADA exam that would be held the following afternoon.

Hermione's face lit up. "Am I ever not?"

"Thanks," Hermione sputters.

No matter how much time she spends with Ron, she'll never get used to the fluttery feeling she gets when he smiles like that.

Hermione broke her gaze. "I think I'm going to take up another class. I was thinking a second course of Arithmancy," she says, clearly searching for Ron's approval.

Hermione rolls her eyes. "There are more important things than Quidditch, you know," she replies. "You need to pay more attention to what really matters. I know I can be overbearing at times, but I don't have a second to relax. I have high standards for myself, and I will not fall short because of something I could have done differently."

LOL - my brother finished the book a few months ago and STILL hasn't seen the movie!

Hermione put her head in her hands. "You know, this is why you don't succeed. Not to sound harsh, but you could have so much more going for you if you actually applied yourself every now and then. You obviously could do it after all I've seen, it's just a matter of deciding to."

Her face was turning red.

Hermione listened intently, her hands crossed over the table. Her eyes got intense as she waited for the answer to Ron's previous statement.

Hermione shrugged.

"I'm just sorting through a lot of things."

Hermione turned to face the window, then back to Ron.

"I'm almost out of ink. Whatever we do, it has to include the Quill Shop. Otherwise, I have a few Galleons to drop at Honeydukes," Hermione said, smiling.
