Cress discussion

Basically I'm in love with Thorne and he is totally my favorite character. I was curious if anyone feels the same. =)

I totally feel the same! Thorne is my favorite male character in the Lunar Chronicles. Then it would go Kai. :D

Just his name makes me smile. He is just so adorable and hilarious. I want him to be real!

I KNOW!!!! he's my favorite too. I love Wolf too. But he scares me a bit...

I love how cress is so perfect for thorne - she brings out the hero in him.

i like him a lot too - i think that he's the kind of character that you know will have good things coming for him because he was clearly forced into his situation. and to think that he had such a soft side for Cress - well i think that it's perfect.

I find him hilarious.In Scarlet and Cress I am almost died laughing at him.

HAha in my review I wrote that I expected everyone who reads this book to love him :) Glad I was at least partly right!! He is awesome - even when he's (view spoiler)[ blind and surrounded by enemies (hide spoiler)] he's making jokes and being lighthearted.

It says something about the author too - that each character is so well defined you can immediately identify with one more than another.

Just started reading this last night! I'm a Wolf fan but Thorne is great too! :)

To be honest I really thought that cinder would ditch kai and like be with thorne but that didn't happen at all...

I admire Thorne, because he's such a great friend! Cinder, Him and Iko were the best trio in Scarlet. I reeally like his optimistic attitude, especially during the 'worse' parts of the situation. And Cress, OMG she's soo lovely and cutie pie type. I think they're kinda perfect for each other :P

I love how Thorne doesn't let his disability get in his way. I love how he shows his love for Cress in here too.

I love Thorne and he's one of my favorite characters! I think Cress's and his relationship is so adorable and I love reading all the chapters about Thorne.

I guess, but i totally understand it - she made this picture of him in her head for years, turning that into like, the only thing that kept her sane. And then he was the first guy she met when she escaped! it makes sense, you know? Though it wasnt quite normal ;)

Well not exactly years lol weeks more like but I know what you mean. The only interactions she had to go on were movies and dramas so she had unrealistic expectations of love.

At the begining of the book, I thought Thorne was funny, but I didn't see any deepness to his character. I loved how he developed with through Scarlet and Cress… especially when he is with Cress. Suddenly I was SUCH a fan!

I adore Thorne, noy only his amazing sarcasm I love, but the way he acts, like he's some stupid guy that doesn't know what's going on but actually you come to see that he's smarter than almost everyone else in the series and also that he knows himself and doesn't want to hurt Cress and pulls her away because he knows his own character and yeah

Omg! Thorne is amazing!! He is like my first book crush. And I LOVE chapter 57 page 503!! It's amazing and I keep reading it over and over!! So adorable! You guys should go back and read it again! :P

I often think of Thorne and Cress as the book version of Flynn and Rapunzel in Tangled. Just like Thorne, Flynn doesn't realize how much Rapunzel means to him until she is danger. Additionally, Thorne acts cocky and nonchalant no matter the situation like Flynn does. Rapunzel is inexperienced and a little timid, but steps up to the plate when she needs to, such as Cress when she has to lead Thorne through the desert.

Just a thought.

They're very similar.

His Name Kinda Shows His Personality, He is thorny, hard to please, not one to change his opinion.

There were times when Thorne was being charming and flirty and I saw Flynn's smolder in my mind.

He's just so silly and goofy and Loveable. I really like him I also like Cress. She's so naive and sweet, but very smart. I like all the Characters actually, that's why I love this Series so Much. I even love the Evil Levana. :)

Yeah and Flynn and Thorne are pretty much the EXACT same person. Can't wait to see more of the Eugene side of Thorne. I LOVE his interaction with Cress and they are my second fave ship in this series (second only to Wolf and Scarlet cuz that ship is life.) I'm a Wolf fan for life but Thorne would be a great friend to have and he is an awesome character. <3

Absolutely. He is like in the first three biggest book crushes of mine and that's not easy considering Percy Jackson and Nico and Fred Weasley and about 30 more :DD.

Yes, she did seem more than just infatuated, but she had never seen many men, he might of been the first.

Yes, I've noticed the relation :) I find Thorne to be a cross between Percy Jackson, Finnick Odair, and Flynn Ryder. lol

I could never really put my finger on what was so familiar about Thorne until I read this thread. Now I can totally see both Flynn and Finnick in Thorne's character. Haven't read Percy Jackson yet, but now I want to read it lol.

Flynn and Thorne are based after the same character! Of course they remind you of each other. Cress is Repunzel and Thorne is whatever the guys character is.

Lol guys that is so hysterical that they're based off of the same character and they turn out so similar but so different at the same time and are still all so likable.

So I am totally in the minority here...but I dislike Thorne (somewhat anyways). For some reason when we were introduced to him I pictured him as an old man in my head, I have no idea why but I just got that image in my head. It creeped me out how Cress was so infatuated with him. I do admit that he grew on me but I still picture him as old in my head and I can't get that out of my head now =( I think I will have to re-read the books to see if I can change my image on him =)

:O I can't understand why you pictured him to be old. The first description we get of him is this:

"One Carswell Thorne, who had already led a very productive life of lawbreaking despite having just turned twenty a few months ago[...]He was still dazed, and though she hated to admit it, he was actually rather attractive. If a girl happened to like that square-jaw, bright-blue-eyes, devilish-dimples kind of thing." Also he has brown hair and an American accent

Favourite character by far and also my newest edition to the book boyfriend list!

I definitely fell for him in Scarlet and Cress. He is devilishly charming! I liked the short story Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky. It only made me like him more!
