Joy Ruckoldt Full name
If you are reading the same book as your last entry (first lines), where are you in the book? (page number or chapter).
Type a favorite line from a scene so far. Explain what was happening, what characters were involved, and why you like that line.
What question/s do you have about what will happen?

If you finished your last book, how would you rate it and why? Refer to specifics to support your reason. Describe one great scene in the book (without giving away spoilers). What is the author's style like? (For instance, The Sun is Also a Star tells the story from the two main character's points of view, titling chapters by who is narrating. However, she also gives minor characters chapters, so you get to see things from outside the scene).

If you have a new book altogether, give the title, author, and # of pages. Why did you pick it? Type the first line of the book. What are your reactions? In 4-5 sentences, tell more about what has happened in the book so far (and what page and/or chapter you are on).

I chose a new book called The Sun Is Also A Star. This book is written by Nicola Yoon and there are 344 pages. The first line of the book (not including the prologue) is "It's Charlie's fault that my summer (and now fall) has been one absurd headline are another." This makes me want to keep reading, because I want to know Daniel's reasons for saying such a thing. So far in the book, two characters have been introduced: Natasha and Daniel. I really like this book so far and how each chapter is a different point of view.

My favorite line from a scene so far is "if there's any part of my father in her, I can't find it." In this scene Claire, D'Arcys sister is talking to her and they do not get along. Claire is leaving to go back to her home after visiting for her dads funeral. I like the line because it shows how D'arcy doesn't like Claire and is thinking about her dad and wishes he was dirk alive. The book hasn't really explained how her father died, but has been hinting that he committed suicide, so I wonder what happened.

I'm reading the same book as in the last entry, I am on chapter 8.
"It doesn't call you anything. It just says...'To be killed by Group B.'" I like this quote because it leaves the reader in suspense to what will happen next because, WICKED, put a member from Group B in the same cell as Group A. Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Aris are involved in this scene. I wonder what Aris will do once he finds out that Thomas is to be killed by a member of Group B.

I'm on chapter 6 page 27
"You're wrong Imogen, we're not friends and never were. I only used your help to get back to the throne."
The two characters involved were Imogen and Jaron the king of carthya. This is going n because jaron thinks that the pirates will try and take her from him so he wants her to bet as far away from him as possible. So he begins to be rude to her and tells her to leave.

"I had soft bones and could not carry it"
The main Character, Kambili, is at her cousins house. Her cousins treat her differently because she comes from an upper class rich family and make fun of her for it. That is my favorite line because her cousin, Amaka, is laughing at her and telling her she is too week to carry anything because she is rich

Cress by Marissa Meyer
552 pages
I chose this book because it is the third book in a series that I started.
"Her satellite made one full orbit around planet Earth every sixteen hours." When I read this I automatically knew the first setting of the book, a satellite in space. This showed me that the main character was not human because only Lunars live in outer space. It also showed me that the character is an outcast because those who live in satellites are cast out from Luna and forced to serve the royalty. In the book the character, Cress, has lived in this satellite for seven years and now she has finally had the chance to meet other people besides her mistress. Now she has the chance to leave her jail and see Earth's full potential.
I am on page 210, chapter 24

Silas | 4 comments I'm still reading House of Hades I'm on chapter 5. So far my favorite scene from the book is when the group of demigods are on the ship flying away from Rome and they see Arian a lightning spirit for the first time in a while. This is my favorite scene because I thought the horses attitude in the last book was hilarious. No questions

I'm still reading the same book from the pervious post. I'm on page 68. "I knew great last words when I heard them." (Green 24) Pudge is talking about how he can memorize last words of famous people and he was responding to Alaska when she asked if that's one of his hobbies. Will Alaska like pudge in the end of the book?

"Whatever life throws at you" by: Julie cross
Pg.373
I picked this book because it has been on my to read list for a while now. "I'm afraid that the second I allowed Frank Steadman, the new general manger of the Kansas City Royals, to enter our small Arizona townhouse, my mother will be right back on his heels." What has happened in the book so far is Annie the main characters mom is a runaway parent she comes and goes like nothing matters. This upsets Annie because she knows how it recks her dad when she leaves. She goes through a lot to deal with her and her dad. (Chapter-23/Pg.276)

I am on Chapter 5. The page is 85.
"You can stay here and sit on your asses all day, I don't care." Currently, Henry and his two brothers are trapped with Cronus and Calliope. Also, Kate's mother and her aunt went to try to save them. Kate is making a mission to save them all and to defeat Cronus and Calliope. The council (gods and goddess) are saying that they will not help Kate fight because they don't want to die. The council thinks if they leave Cronus alone, he will not kill them. Kate thinks they are ridiculous because the human race depends on this mission. I like this line because it really shows how Kate is scared, but she must step up to the plate. She wasn't just gonna let 6 months of hard working go into the trash. She is very independent.

My favorite scene so far in the book is "The impact is like I feared falling off the car while surfing would be. The water is cold and dark. I look up and the surface seems impssoiblh far away. The current pulls and I know if I don't start swimming, I'm dead. The characters Ricky, John and Ben, Ben being the narrator in the book has done a dare to jump in a gorge. He is doing it for money. This line shows how he felt about his pass dares he had to do. I wonder what next list of dares they are gonna complete later in the book.

I chose a new book called "The Stand" By: Stephen King, The book has 1139 pages. I picked this book because i like this author and it is one of his best sellers. The first line of the book is ""Sally"". i believe that the author started out the book with short/ one word sentences to try and grab the attention of readers. so far in the book its extremely suspenseful because a character named Charlie is panicking and telling his family to get outside asap and when his wife asks if there is a fire or something he responds with. "In a way, In a way its worse " and that sentence adds to the suspense of the book already and makes you wonder what kind of event is scaring him so much.

My favorite scene in Mind+Body up to this points is when Christ fights some wanna be gang members in school. In this scene Chris is walking and accidentally knocks into one of the wannabes. They then surround Chris and start arguing. Chris didn't want any trouble but they push him against the locker and start punching him. They punche him twice in the stomach and then the leader went for one in he head. After Chris was high in the head he grabbed the leader and threw him into the locker then punched one of the other guys in the throats and kneed the last one in the back. This is my favorite scene because Chris isn't the Thor of guy to fight but some how he becomes almost like a ninja.

Silas | 4 comments The horse Arion was hilarious because he had a sort of a passive aggressive personality where it seemed he only helped when he knew someone would need it
, and he would do it with spunk.

I'm reading Unwind by Neil Shutsterman , im on page 34. And the line that I have read so far and is my favorite is "Risa fixes her eyes on the front door of the bus, hold her breath, and races towards that door" (pg.27) this book writes a little bit at a time about a couple different characters to show the different things that are happening in their society, and this part is about a character named Risa. That was the last sentence of the first part of her story but what is happening is a bus crashed in the way to a place where she is forced to go but doesn't want to, and the bus that she is on crashed and she has to make a quick decision on what she wants to do. I think that the sentence made me want to keep reading and was suspenseful.

Looking For Alaska
John Green
221 pages
I picked this because I am familiar with the author and have heard that it is a good book. It has good ratings and reviews.
"The week before I left my family and Florida and the rest of my minor life to go to boarding school in Alabama, my mother insisted on throwing me a going away party."
My reactions are just questionable. I'm still confused about certain things like why she is leaving in the first place. I'm on page 5. So far the mom has set up for a party while the main character talks about how none of her friends would come. Only 2 people came. She seems bored with her life. Apparently it was her choice to leave and her parents aren't completely ok with it.

My favorite line is “My house may not look like much, but it keeps my family safe. I've got fiod in my gut and a roof over my head.” This line is explaining how Chase thinks he is free but Ember is trying to tell him the truth in how stuff really is. Ember is arguing with Chase in what they should do and where they should go. I like this line because it shows Chase being a really humble person and that says a lot about a character. This scene involve Chase and Ember.

Waterfell
by Amalie Howard
Pg 350
I picked this book because it was recommended by a friend and my last book wasn't as interesting as this one." Shivers race through my veins like gilded fireworks." My reaction was curiosity I wanted to know why shivers were racing through Nerissa. Im on page forty. Nerissa has to seek refuge in the human world after her father was murdered and the thrown has been taken by Ehmora queen of the lower ruby court. Her father told her never to return to Waterfell. She has to blend in with her parents friends who are sworn to keep her safe. She meets a new boy at school. She doesn't know why but she is starting to fall for him and doesn't know why.
