Dana | 20 comments I LOVED this book! So excited it's been picked for the GRA next year. I'll be teaching grade 7/8 if anyone is looking for connections (pretty early but thought I'd put it out there)!

I always take books to schools to share. Most come back. This one has not so that is a very good sign!

I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this but I quickly got pulled into this Wild Robot survival story and I'm very excited for the second book to come out! I loved it and I know so many students will too. Can't wait to hear students thoughts next October for the GRA. This book would tie in nicely with some science units too, like the Grade 6 Diversity of Living Things cluster.

Dana | 20 comments I just found out this week I'll be switching from grade 7/8 to grade 4 next year and I'm SO excited that I can use this book! Anyone want to make a connection on here for GRA?

I liked that the ending was unpredictable and am really excited for the sequel to come out!

Melanie I've had a student 3 years in a row, and it has been a struggle to get him to read. He, however, loved this book. He actually read the whole thing, and asked for more books like it.

I think the appeal to nature and the short chapters were what made it accessible to him. The year is almost over, but I'm still not sure what books I should have recommended. Suggestions?

Dana | 20 comments Have you tried any graphic novels with him? I e had lots of luck with the Amulet series.

I listened to the audio book for The Wild Robot and quite enjoyed it! If you are using it for the Global Read Aloud this fall, you may want to try the audio book. I also believe students will like this book! I love how Peter Brown draws so many themes and situations into the story. It will be great for student discussion.

I forgot to say I borrowed this audio book through my local library using Overdrive. So it was free!
