(view spoiler)[The description of these buildings are not to code based on the anime nor the actual layout of the Nanba Prison-however, for our uses this is what it will be. (hide spoiler)]
In Nanba Prison, there are 13 buildings that make up the enormous compound (excluding headquarters where the warden is located). Prisoner placement is determined by their crime that resulted in their imprisonment in Nanba or the crimes they most commonly commit based on these crime categories. Each crime(s) that imprisoned these inmates in this isolated facility were all extreme or sever enough that they could not be placed safely anywhere else. Every occupant within this prison has previously escaped or are placed here due to the danger they present if they manage to escape.

ᴥ Homicide by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Degree.
The prisoners that are located in building 1 are the murders that are put under lock and key. They are rarely let out of their cells besides for the required bathroom breaks, meal times (etc) that are scheduled methodically to ensure no fights break out (since otherwise they will constantly result in inmate or guard deaths). The inmates here have been charged for numerous murders whether premediated, involuntary, or impulsive. Many of the prisoners have been charged for other crimes but the majority have been homicides or their most recent crime that was sever enough to be placed in Nanba.

ᴥ Offense Against Family
Inmates in this building tend to have nearly as much prejudice against as the rapists in building 3. The inmates that tend to be placed in these cells have committed offences against their family members such as child rape, abductions/kidnapping, abuse, contribution to delinquency and even harboring runaways. The prisoners placed here are very specific and they make sure not to place child offenders anywhere near this building. (An easy feat since the compound is vast in size).

ᴥ Criminal Sexual Assault/Abuse
Building 3 is a building that prides itself on cleanliness and it’s beautiful appearances of the building, inmates and guards. This could be due to the fact that the occupants are sex offenders who have been charged of multiple cases of assault or abuse. Many occupants have various other crimes in their resume but they are put here when this category takes the larger ratio of their offenses.
}| Building 4 |{
ᴥ Public Violence, Arson
Building 4’s inmates are far in few with a variety of criminal charges but all under severities of the crime(s) committed. In addition to arson, anything to do with illegal weapon handling (even theft of) and homicides that are done in a public setting are placed in this building.
}| Building 5 |{
ᴥ Aggravated Assault/ Battery
As the well known, combat oriented building of sector 5, these occupants tend to have an overwhelming amount of assault and battery charges that more often than not escalated into homicides.
}| Building 6 |{
ᴥ Theft
Robbery/Burglary/Larceny/Moter Vehicle theft -theft and stolen property, in general, are put into building 6. Their quick hands and stealing tactics cause these inmates to give their guards a run for their money-if it hadn’t been stolen already. Each of these occupants are pro thieves, talented in grabbing what they want and charged with numerous accounts of such. Tricky and sly people but are able to keep a low profile. A necessity if you’re smuggling diamonds or gold.
}| Building 7 |{
ᴥ Misc Non-Index Offenses
The building 7 occupants are a mix-matched bunch with various crimes that are equally as mild as the other. A combination of the other 11 (excluding building 13’s escape crimes) with additions of trespassing, threatening/intimidation, public peace violations (with weapons ie;bombs) as well as destruction of property, smuggling, abuse, theft and tampering. There are many other qualifications. In the end, building 7 is where they put misfits that don’t quite fit anywhere else but aren’t aggressive enough to kill other occupants (without the proper instruments).
}| Building 8 |{
ᴥ Forgery & Counterfeiting/ Fraud
8, in charge of the criminals that are experts in forgery, counterfeiting and have numerous (or a singular large offense) accounts of fraud. These inmates are the outside source. How they do it is unknown but they are able to smuggle items that the prison won’t provide and they tend to do disguise themselves as guards to do so. Much of their antics go unnoticed-if they’re careful.
}| Building 9 |{
ᴥ Prostitution
A lower status crime that the inmates possess that place them in this cell to avoid their escape by seducing other guards. Many in this cell are trained assassins that often use their appearances to their advantage. They aren’t subjected purely to that type, some are mere prostitutes that got too close to the wrong type of people. This building is well known in Nanba for being the most fun but in some cases, the most disturbing.
}| Building 10 |{
ᴥ Drug/Alcohol Abuse & Dealing
These inmates have been caught for drug use or dealing drugs. Massive drug lords make up much of the occupants but also drug (or alcohol) abusers that have done extreme crimes whether violent, public, or against people are located in these cells and undergo a lot of medical attention to ensure they are using. However, if you try hard enough, getting drugs from this building is a risk that proves accurate if you’re not caught.
}| Building 11 |{
ᴥ Vandalism
Petty crime of building 11-they are looked down upon and pass by mostly ignored. However, many of these inmates can often be put into building 13 for escaping but those cases are rare. This building is the most pleasant. More freedom as well as the immensely pleasant graffiti and images that are located on many of the walls in this building. However, the occupants better not have any personal items because more likely than not, they will be vandalized.
}| Building 12 |{
ᴥ Gambling
The building of gamblers! These fun bunch are all very much addicted to gambling thus landing them in Nanba prison. Many have gambled away their own lives- but most would have gambled on people’s lives. Illegal gambling and masterminds behind underground gambling locations that often deal with high stakes, immense amount of money, weapons or even other people’s lives. It would be a mistake to take a wager with one of these inmates. It’s more likely than not-they’ll win.

ᴥ Escapees
The famous building 13! These inmates (which contain fewer members than many of the other building) are escape artists. The occupants are famous for escaping from various prisons using various methods. Each consisting of many different crimes and traits but all placed here due to their habit of escaping. The guards here are much more extreme than many of the other buildings and are required to be able to stop any of the prisoners at any time. (The only ones rivaling is building 5’s guard and building 1’s).
