Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments Well, they did such a great job telling the story the first time...probably won't be aliens in this one either.

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 211 comments I hope they get the ending right this time...

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments People have to learn you don't rush to the big story, you have to build to it.
Ten minutes of Jean being angsty and a cameo by the phonenix effect is not enough set up.

I liked the scene but I can't argue with you at all.

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments I enjoyed Apocalypse, but the X-movies hurry.
DC has the same problem.
Having the very first Batman/Superman movie be the 'Dark Knight returns' fight was stupid and missed the point of Miller's story.

For whatever faults marvel may have, they are willing to play the long game and build things up so you get not just a cool visual, but some emotion behind it.

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments So, I read somewhere that Dark Phoenix jumps ahead to the 90's...?

While I kind of enjoy the period piece feel of the X-men movies, that's a twenty year jump.
Might have been better to do the 80's when the comic story was set.

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 211 comments Any reason for the jump? I thought that Apocalypse was 80s (Return of the Jedi released in 83)
Still don’t think one movie will be enough to tell the story.

I thought that Apocalypse was in the 80's (for the movie) but I haven't seen it...?

message 12: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments True, it may have been the 80's.
So we are only jumping a decade.

Travis (travishiltz) | 196 comments Best thing I can say is it was...okay.

Lotta the same old angst, Charles does nothing but make mistakes, Magneto lectures him ( ignoring that he's the bad guy), Mystique is the heart of the team (???) and the rest stand around hoping they look cool.
