I gave up on Grisham years ago, when I began to find his novels formulaic. But I really liked this nonfiction account of "justice" in America. Fascinating.
Thanks for the review. I own this book but have never got around to reading it. I will try to get to it soon now.

I could not put this book down. A page turner with captivating characters, intriguing plot, wonderful writing, and its non-fiction!!
I picked this book up because I was looking for a true-crime book for a challenge and because it took place in Southeast Oklahoma, a portion of the state I am more than familiar with. I thought I would plod my way through it being a true-crime story, but instead found myself racing through the story anxious to know what happens next.
The book focuses on Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz and their wrongful conviction for the murder of Debbie Carter in Ada, Oklahoma but also details other wrongful convictions in the state of Oklahoma at the time. The central story follows Ron Williamson who was a promising young baseball prospect and his battles with alcohol, drugs, the legal system, and mental illness.
While the story of Dennis Fritz and Ron Williamson is intriguing on its own, the combination of excellent research and the talents of a proven writer of courtroom drama make it really come to life.
